the modern switchblades are NICE if you spend good money for a quality brand like Benchmade

but they are called auto-open not a switchblade these days

I want to get a fixed blade but depending on the state, you can get into felony territory very quickly.

Depends which side you position the blade. When I rock appendix my gun is on my right side and blade on the left.

A fixed blade is prob a better overall knife

A pocket knife is just easier to carry and can get the job done. A fixed blade is indeed a pain in the azz to carry

Yeah, I am pretty interested in checking one out. I have no problem dropping a few hundred on a quality tool that I will have for life and probably be able to pass down as well.

I actually prefer a cheap Gerber than my nice knives for my everyday. It gets beat to hell since day to day it's mostly breaking down cardboard boxes and crap like that, plus it was cheap enough I won't be out a ton if I accidentally leave it on an elementary school playground or whatever.

Valid point. I’ll have to think about that, blade down offers some advantages that I hadn’t though my of.

That’s a good point. I’ve actually known quite a few people that have had their Gerber for years that’s been used and abused.

For every day carry for tasks, the smallest sharp switchblade you can get for cheap. Even one of those switchblade box cutters would be good.

For carrying around for camping/yard work/bushwork a thick fixed blade, I think Kabar makes some good ones in their BK line.

For self defense… gun or pepper spray, don’t carry a knife for that lol. Either other guy has a gun and your dead, he has a knife and you kill each other, or 50/50 he gets it from you and kills you with it. But if you’re dead set on a edc killing knife so you can larp as a 15 year old… spyderco matriarch.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1

I don't personally carry a knife for offensive purposes so a CRKT CEO is my favorite knife. Its thin, its light (2oz) and its cheap enough to lose, damage or discard without worry. Also a fan of the Kershaw Leek but its more expensive and a good bit heavier. Still carries extremely well due to the thin profile.

I have a ton of knives but these are the only two I bother carrying unless I'm going fishing, hunting, hiking or something like that...
