wasn't marley and me really sad?

airbud is legit the only movie i've ever cried at. which is another dog movie

so i agree with the dog comment.

i'll turn chit off if there's gratuitous violence against animals

The Road was the most depressing movie I’ve ever seen by far.

Second place goes to Requiem For A Dream

I gotta add a shameful pick of a movie to the thread.

Titanic.

If you cut out the love story, it’s a fukking horror film. There will never be another movie about Titanic EVER. James Cameron retired Titanic films in perpetuity in 1997. That movie was so well filmed that they can never do a re-make of it.

The part where the ship was going down and all the lights went out scared the living sh!t out of me. And the parts they showed where families were saying their last goodbyes to their dads/husbands was tough to watch.

Went to see it in theaters with my family when I was 8 and my super religious mother covered my eyes during the naked scene where Jack did a drawing of Rose but luckily I could still see through her fingers and got to see Rose’s perfect tits so that was nice.

Also I remember the most impromptu laughter in the theater that came out of absolutely nowhere, lmao. Everything was so serious and tense and then this fukking happened. I wish I could ask James Cameron if he meant to add a little levity during that scene or it was just accidentally hilarious.

One of the top youtube comments:

“The guy spins more than the propeller when it worked.”

I’m fukking dead

My Girl was rough to watch as a kid.

Legends of the Fall was pretty heavy, emotional end (emotional throughout actually)

T2. How can you not be sad when they lower him into the steel?

The Godfather when sonny gets hit then Brando’s reaction

In relation to dog movies / books (my first thought was where the red fern grows)

There’s a book & movie called Stone fox I remember from childhood about a boy entering a sled dog race woth his pup. Heartbreaking

The Green Mile. Cried my eyes out at the end.

Agree on all the dog movies, I remember them showing My Dog Skip in middle school and it was tough to stay cool during the ending scene.

I was flicking through the channels one day and caught the last few minutes of the mist without seeing the rest of it. Went back to watch the whole movie a few years later. That is fkn BRUTAL.

All mentioned already.

The Road and The Green Mile.
First one is pure darkness, all i can think about is depression and sorrow. The second one is brutal, and in many ways.

As a kid, nothing comes close to the Lion King. Still get all choked up if i see Mufasa and Simba
