This is obviously disgusting and a step in the wrong direction. Our society is too lenient with sex offenders, IMO. But this random quote in this poorly written article stuck out to me:

After some digging on Derek Logue, he was convicted in 2001 for an event in 1999 that he described as “a kiss with a minor”.

https://sor.nebraska.gov/Registry/Offender/201904DRK

His actual crime that he was convicted of was 1st Degree sexual assault of an 11-year-old child. He was 22 at the time. He served only 3 years and immediately started activism for paedos.

He grifts other sex offenders into giving him money to go attack victims.

His own statement on the 11 year old that he assaulted:

https://*********************.online...om/Derek_Logue

He’s been arrested for burglary, evading a warrant and frequents prostitutes.

He’s obviously a POS but what really makes me curious, is why would a local CBS affiliate in Colorado have a random quote by this guy and not include any of these details in the article so that people know what kind of monster is advocating for a change in terminology for sex offenders?

Edit: not sure why the above link isn’t working. Just DuckDuckGo his name and sex offender. Website is called evil-unveiled/DerekLogue
His victim’s father should have ripped his tongue out. Basically calling an 11 year old girl a whore is unbelievable.

So many trash people keep flowing into Colorado, it’s so annoying.

Huh. Whatever happened to rape culture? Toxic masculinity and so on? We're throwing that out and focusing on child molester's rights now?

Everyone is a victim now, even the literal child sex predator. The left has a savior complex and needs to save everyone. Except for normal every day working Americans because they're basically the 1%.

Let him be the one to punish both the offending man as well as his daughter, and let him stop her from getting into trouble in the first place. The state shouldn't even get involved unless the guy breaks in and kills the girl's father or something.

The term "sex offender" has already been deprived of all meaning by them using it in dumb ways. If it disappears it won't be a huge loss. It should be more specific. You shouldn't be giving the same name to the guy who pissed in public, the guy who fukked a 17 year old, and the guy who sodomized a 6 year old boy. Say what their actual crime was, not just "sex offender".
Makes sense to me.

The one difficulty I can see though is having a general term for the entire registry- what should we call the registry if not the "sex offender registry"?

We had a new neighbor move in next door at our old house in MI who was on the registry and word went around the neighborhood pretty quick. When you went on the actual registry to see what the crime was it was something like sex with a minor, said minor being 16 or 17 when the man in question was 20 IIRC. No context is provided regarding consent, or if it was a single incident or ongoing relationship.

What state? There's plenty of laws (I think they're called Robin Hood laws?) where sex is okay if it's within 2-3 years and you were already in a relationship prior to becoming an adult. It's not a law in all the states though which is stupid, because it puts people like possibly your neighbor into really chitty situations landing them on the list forever. The list shouldn't be forever anyways for most issues.

It was MI and I think it was 4 years or more. Been quite awhile TBH. My daughter was still a lot younger than that at the time and for whatever reason I seem to recall thinking it was maybe a coach/camp counselor situation. Like it was sort of borderline seeming.
