I cheated in high school. And she cheated in college. That is why we broke up. We were 6 hours away and young. We needed to grow up. In our marriage I am lucky that my business never put me much around other women. We went through some tougher times that I have seen many other couples go though and it broke their marriages.

When you have kids, a lot of issues come up and never get solved since the kids are the focus. About the time the youngest is 3-6, you wake up and realize there is a lot of resentment towards each other. The husband often is not happy with lack of intimacy or attention, the wife feels like the husband could do more or help more. I was not a good husband or father in the beginning of our marriage. I was always busy in my own mind and did not give her the support or attention she deserved.

It took us both a few years to realize we both had legitimate issues and took several more to work through them. We were both committed to each other and making it work. It was hard and took work on both sides. I can say that there had never been a single day where I woke up and wish I was not married. But MANY dark times where I woke up wishing my relationship were better.

Being a typical man, I would have fuked up everything and probably cheated. I would have been miserable if I every lost my wife and it would have been the biggest mistake ever. We managed to come to understand each other and each others needs. We got past those and our relationship has never been better. I feel super lucky to be totally head over heels for my wife still. It makes it easy to be a good husband when you are still crazy about your wife. If I were not, I would probably fall trap to the same things many men do.

I have several friends who married people, some still married, but have always longed for a past love and never gotten over it. I think it is the ultimate torture. I almost proposed to a girl before my wife and I had got back together. It seemed like the thing to do. She was fantastic to me and treated me like I walked on water. She was smart and in law school at the time. I felt I 'loved' her, but I now know it was not real love. I still thought of myself before her. If you ever find someone you truly love, their happiness means more to you than anything. Probably here on the misc people would call that being 'cucked'. But I will gladly give up my own happiness for my wife. The truly awesome thing is when you find someone deserving of that, they do the same for you. Probably most people think this is a fairy tale, and so did I. NEVER did I think as an adult, I could feel the feelings that I felt as a teen. Then we got back together in my late 20's I it hit me again. Well, I am 48 now and just as crazy in love with my wife when I was 17.

The key is finding someone that is worth it. There is no alpha in our relationship. No power struggles. We have each taken on our roles we both chose. My wife has been a mom since we had kids. Her job has been harder than mine. I provide for us. We make important decisions together, but we respect what the other knows. We have never had a single argument about money or how to raise our kids. Having similar values is the single biggest important factor to marriage success.

Thats cool but not the important stuff. I have been on both sides of the coin. "Stuff" does not make you happy. It is nice, but not something to focus on. If it happnes, great, but it does not bring true happiness.

Our current home is on the larger side, but it is something me and my wife did toegther. I designed it and for us, it is cozy. Probably a little bigger than most need, but we feel like it is home and it feels very comfortable to us.

My first home I built for us in 2001 was the opposite. I was young and had stuff to prove. It was 8900 heated and never felt cozy. Here is a vid of it. THis is not our stuff in it. Grabbed the vid from when it came up for sale.




Current home has so much of what we wanted and we are on 3 ac but in the middle of our town. Crappy drone pic, but we have a long driveway and our privacy and a little pond on the side of us. Very happy and grateful for sure. Going to be a lot without the kids. Not sure what we will do....

Very cool. I am a pilot also. "Induced drag" is the component of drag as a result of producing LIFT. Figured it would be a cool name for a lifting site. I hold a commecial and CFI rotorcraft. I used to own a helicopter business and had a nice hughes 500 and a few R22's. Living a much more simple life these days. Cant really justify owning a helo any more. That was a different life I led and I had a lot more 'stuff'. Greatly simplified my life and MUCH happier now. I could buy another helo, but there is no way I could justify it. Just way too much. If I won the lottery, maybe. But I am happy playing and sharing cars with my son. Just as much fun. Maybe more. This is a pic of my 500 I had.

Ha...she is a handful. But she will make some guy a great partner in life. She is going to have to find someone who can match her wits. She is above genius level IQ. Yes, we actually had a full WISK IV done because of some schooling issues. She is smart enough to do anything, but want to be a nurse since it offers the most flexibility to have a family. She has seen my wife's and my relationship. We are very traditional but equal in respect. I hope we have given her something to look for in a relationship.

Raising kids is tough, but one thing I ALWAYS was aware of with raising a daughter, is I wanted her to see how a woman should be treated. Lots of young men these days think it is cool to be disrespectful of women. That might be all fun and good with the sloots, but that sh!t gets old quickly and finding a quality girl to settle down with obviously has been worth it for me.

I dated quite a few girls who made me feel in love with them in the bedroom, but that was as far as it went. They were not the one to marry. Pretty cool when you find the right girl, it is more than apparent.

Some could say I have been whooped for 20+ years. I am cool with that. That is fine if the person is worth it and they value you as much as you them.

Last of my old guy advice. Having friends over for dinner. Cooking a 12lb prime rib!Already about 3 beers in. Life is good. Good friends and family.

You can see the problem is that there's so few of these success cases these days that people automatically throw shade at you and hate. It's a sign of how fuked our society is when expecting everything to be doom and gloom is what the average young man feels because of how much everything around them actually does eventuate that way. What you have with your wife is what is normal and what marriage/love/whatever was meant to be.
