Still mind-blowing that you can drive a Lambo around for a year and profit from the experience lol!

There are days where I wish I had a weekend driver, but I have made irreplaceable memories with my dad, had my son on the back a few times, and the wife loves it more too. The memories of that shared time is worth way more. So, if it were me, I'd go the route that gets you and your son in the garage building, not just a car, but memories.

So I feel like I have 'been there, done that' and enjoyed this car the past year. Put 3000 miles on it in less than a year. All pleasure driving, so we got our fun with it. My supercharger and other mods are coming for my lotus in a couple days, when done, it will be a lot of fun and I will not feel like I dont have a toy.
So I am going to explore options. I have been leaning towards 720s but lots of nightmare stories about McLaren. But I know our dealer really well and he is making me an offer I cant refuse. After Christmas he is giving me one for a couple days to play with to see if I like it.
At the other end, I had considered building an Ultima RS like a member here has. Always loved those cars and I would enjoy building with my son. So I am open to ideas. My son really loves the 720s. I also have loved McLarens but never really considered them. But with the right dealer it might be something I consider.

Not expecting it at all. I am pretty active in our local car community and I got an invitation for a VIP day at the deanship. They had a nice lunch spread and told us essentially how the 'game' works. Normally you cant even spec a car for your first purchase. You usually have to buy something they are stuck with on the floor or a used one. But they offered to let me cut in line and go right to ordering, to my exact spec, a car. I am still thinking about it, but dont know that I want to hold on to cars 2 years. I have been changing out cars in less than a year usually. Just for the fun and newness. But it is a tempting offer. That’s good to know man, building a relationship is never a bad thing imo. Who you know goes far.
And I knew you had to be selected to buy a new Ferrari but didn’t know that they dictated how long you had to hold onto them. That’s pretty crazy lol
Good luck with whatever you choose and keep us in the loop!

I will buy 10 720s right now at that price if you can show me where they are. There is a 18 w/ 63k miles which just had an engine replaced for 265. For anything worth buying you are looking at 280-310. I also wont buy one out of warranty and McLaren is only 3 years, so that probably puts me 310 and over for what I am looking for. There are no 'bargain' Mclarens out there, and with their known issues for being very expensive to fix, I would not look for one on these cars.RAW lifts

GL on the next car OP. Any experience with the new C8? I have always wanted to get a later model Gallardo, but i wonder if it makes more sense to just go for a lightly used c8 once they drop down a bit in price. Seems like they are very comparable in performance, just not in the "status" area...which i don't really care about. Glad to see you are a HODL'er. I spent way too much on ADA this month when it was in that $1.25 range. Wish i would have hopped into SOL and AVAX when they were still dirt cheap.

I can lose it all and it wont change anything about my life. Cashing out for a million or two seems silly when the payout can be so much more....Crazy how similarly we think. Earlier this year I took the proceeds I made selling one of my rental prosperities and putting it all in BTC and ETH. Up until that point I had $30-40k in but thought, it makes complete sense (coming from the tech world), lets see where this goes in 5-7 years.

I will give it this...you cant argue with it's performance or value at all. I just hate the design of the car. I would rather drive a slower car that I loved than a faster one that I did not like everything about. I call the C8 a "civic type r". It just looks like it is trying too hard. It looks like it was designed by a committee of engineers in a room voting on different areas of the car. No cohesiveness of the design.GL on the next car OP. Any experience with the new C8? I have always wanted to get a later model Gallardo, but i wonder if it makes more sense to just go for a lightly used c8 once they drop down a bit in price. Many reasons not to buy a C8 for me. In a few years they will be cranking out 25,000 per year and all these guys buying over retail will hate the decisions they made. Corvette brand is having a hard time shaking the "New_balance" buyers. Even the Z06 is great technology, but it is in a car that has no soul. You see a 10 year old ferrari or lambo, and it is exciting. It is exciting because the designs are timeless. There are no 'bad angles'. With the C8 you have to struggle to find a 'good' angle. I wish I like it, but I dont.
So in the lower 130's I would buy an LP gallardo. 09 forward. Same running gear as the R8 and more reliable than the Pre-Lp. But I prefer the sounds of the Pre-Lp even firing engine, I would steer you towrads the reliability of the Lp forward. Pre-Lp clutch replacement is common in under 10k miles. Lp-forward, 30 or even 50k miles clutches will last.
Having the 'fastest' car is not where your satisfaction will come from. Speed is a one trick pony. There are so many other areas that bring enjoyment. If you did not want to go Lambo, I think a R8 is the perfect 'starter' exotic. FANTASTIC car. Even the Gen 1's. They are ending production of the R8 so my guess is it would be easy to buy the right one, drive for a few years and probably sell it for what you paid.
In the end, do what you wish, but I would not even consider a C8. I literally would not take one for free. If a condition was I had to keep and not sell it and drive it. I would not want it.

do you think it's worth waiting for prices to soften or are Huracans going to keep their values for the next couple years as lambo goes hybrid for the replacement? Prices here went from $200k canadian to $240k minimum. Feelsbadjeff.jpg

And you could say I know a few guys who own these cars, so take it at that.

So this wont get much traction here on the MISC as it pretty much goes against the grain of what is so deeply embedded here. But if you want success and happiness in life, surround yourself with positivity. Rid your life of people who are negative.
That does not mean you cant get on a forum, but be YOU on the forum the way YOU are. Find the positive things in life. Two people can look at the exact same situation and see totally different predicaments.
In 09, I was almost killed. Left with a broken neck and traumatic brain injury with partial amnesia and short term memory loss. On top of that all my businesses went under. 15 years of work gone.
I look at that one moment as the single best experience of my life. It truly was.
Life is good guys... Your world is what you perceive it and NEVER overlook the value of others. It is people that will make your life a success. NOT you. Be the person that other people want to help. The person other people want to be around. Life is truly amazing.
This is cool and I like the way he puts this.

Then the collapse came and stocks and properties lost 30% or more in a very short time. Lots of people I knew lost everything. Guys that were already millionaires several times over, who did not need to borrow, but were consumed with trying to extract every dollar out of every purchase by leveraging, found themselves in a hole where they had to go bankrupt.
I think we are very close to major economic reset. I do think there is validity to what you are saying, but I will say that most people who I know who have already built wealth, dont finance toys. Not saying it is wrong, but just not what I would do. Certainly if we all had crystal balls it would be an easy call. But having lived though 2008,9, 10 , 11, 12, I dont like sticking my neck out too far.
