Fenders are great guitars but I wouldn't drop that much unless you know you're going to stick with it. Same if you decided to go the Gibson route - I'd buy Epiphone instead.

I tell everyone who’s starting unless money isn’t an issue go to guitar center and get something cheaper. There’s no reason to drop over 1k on a guitar you may not stick with. There are some good playing cheaper guitars no doubt. Also depending on what exactly you want to play, learning on an acoustic first is harder but if you go that route, when you do finally pick up an electric it’s so much easier.

A strat is a great guitar but I’ve always been a Les Paul man myself. That deep growl just gets me. When I played live I used 3 guitars to cover tons of styles, les paul was my main, PRS and Schecter were for shredding and lighter stuff. You can play everything on one guitar though just learning and practicing, some are just better at different styles.

Guitar center has some cheaper acoustics that are actually well put together also. No they aren’t going to sound like a Taylor but as long as you have the action right, good strings and keep it in tune it’ll sound fine. I also suggest getting an electronic tuner to start. They’re cheap and I even used one the whole time I played on stage just for convenience. But train your ear early and often on what’s in tune.

If you’re trying to go for AC/DC and Sabbath I’d go for an SG

Depends but if you want a tremolo and like the single coil sound then get a Strat
