I'm 34 and have about $200k including paid off car, motorcycle, $110k cash, IRA, 401k, and stocks. My condo is probably a break even. I've been working on moving cash from savings to investments, a slow process.

At 26 I was 50k in credit card debt and had a home loan for 300k... so -350k

By 27 I made it with a major windfall from an excellent investment

It's a lot of luck, lot of timing to really make it...

At 32 I don't even want to say my net worth but it's good, real good.

I bought a 2018 370Z brand new from the dealer and my loan was about 28K remaining

I don’t plan on selling the car so why am I gonna pay more in interest over time when I have the liquid funds to pay it off and not have a loan anymore

Doing good OP, it all starts snowballing once you get a little capital invested. Oh and it helps alot to have a girl on board with your goals. Wife and I are 31 and 33 respectively.

No it was more the selling the house part I was questioning

$60k at 31.

But I'm also now putting like $17,480 in for my 401k which includes the match... and $6440 my company puts in a pension plan. So maybe I'll make it.

Regardless of how much you have now, any investor will say they wish they had started investing sooner and more heavily. So keep that in mind.

I bought my house 10yrs ago, which was a great decision due to 6 figures of equity now. But I didn't start investing heavily until 2017. Well into 6 figs of net worth now, but we're also in a clown market....

Try not to compare yourself to others. Compare where you're at to where you were, and improve upon it. We're all on our own path. My brokerage account compares myself to my peers and I'm above all of them, so there's definitely frauders in this thread or perhaps legit 1%ers? I doubt it. Most people my age have a net worth of 75k according to my broker's ai calculation. Even though I exceed my peers by far, I still don't feel like I'm where I want to be. Even though I have 0 financial worries.

I co-owned with my cousin and we had some minor disagreements. He wouldn’t let me buy him out so we just sold and cut it even. If we had waited we probably could’ve sold it for more than we did

I guess the thing is that “net worth” is very different if you have a recurring and unquantifiable liability (rent) versus someone who has at least one house and their debt is in nominal dollars

Are you planning to buy back in at some point?

Eventually but the markets so expensive right now and I’m living at home rent free so I’m not particularly in a rush
