He was strangely poetic though. And instrumental in the death of Saruman. It shows how good a man Theoden was to welcome him back despite everything.

Yes he had some good lines, part of the reason why I said he's one of the best acting parts in the trilogy.(that "morning of pale spring" line was Gandalf's in the book.)

In the movies they wanted Saruman alive so they could find out what they needed to know, and Saruman was in the process of negotiation to do just that. But the wretched bastard killed him out of anger before any of that could happen. So Grima killing Saruman was a pain in the ass, not a good thing at that particular time.

And yes, Theoden was a merciful man and Grima was afforded far too many chances than he deserved.

The Elves used to be powerful, Numenorean Men were akin to 7-foot tall superheroes, dwarves had extremely large caches of wealth.

Even the main antagonist, Sauron, is basically a broken Maiar even though he was one of the original servants of Morgoth. Once Numenor fell, he lost most of his power yet still is incredibly strong, even after being defeated by Isildur.

The entire land has been shattered. The world of Men is falling, with no great kings. The realms of Elves only are preserved by Galadriel and her ring. The Dwarves are few in number.

Only through Gandalf’s influence with Narya, the ring of fire, the purity of the Hobbits, and the fact that Aragorn is basically an almost perfect man, were they able to distract Sauron and allow Gollum to take the ring to the fires of Mount Doom.

By the way,
Nobody would have been capable of giving up The One Ring. Perhaps the greatest feat of strength was Bilbo letting go. Boromir was said to have been the mightiest man alive and he was turned into a whimpering child by his desire for it.
I would have shoved it right up my angus. Right where I can always feel it, and nobody else knows its there.

The first is always my favorite.

-The history behind the ring
-The peaceful shire
-Bilbo giving up the ring
-Frodos introduction to the ring
-The realization of men and elves that the ring exists
-The creation of the fellowship

I always like the origins of stories best. Like the first days of a zombie apocalypse is more interesting to me than a couple months in.

They're all great though. Can't just watch one, need to see them all. It's a commitment with the extended versions but have been watching it yearly for the last decade.

The One Ring would bend the will of your angus, don’t you see? Your own angus would turn on you to steal it!! It would be a folly far beyond Isildur’s failure for you to shove it up your angus, and I would council you against such a foolish decision.
