Ages ago I worked at a grocery store and one of the old butchers who worked there told me don't buy the ground beef that comes in the factory rolls like breakfast sausage. He said that it is stuff that is old/low quality and may be "cleaned" with chemicals to make it seem better.

I hadn't bought hummus in ages and had a craving for it last week. All the brands were priced the same and there was less selection than I recall before. Maybe hummus variety has shrunk everywhere?

Yes. The shuffling around of Albertson's has been kinda epic in its way. We had Tom Thumb [same as Randall's IIRC] and I guess they bought up a branch of Albertson's that was still operating in DFW. For quite awhile they were putting out two different grocery ads each week, though most of the content was the same.
