I just got lower back pain this week, srs. Jolts up my spine when I try to walk on my left foot.
I tried to tough it out and figured I'm just being a pucci by not staying active. So I tried running on it, no fukking dice, tried swinging a golf club at a driving range the other day, could only get through like 10% of my rotation, tried to pick up a practice putt out of the hole and looked like I was 80 years old.
My guess is I've either been sleeping on it wrong or have bad posture from WFHcelling, so I have been paying attention especially to the latter.
Fukking sucks though. I have a rec football league starting in 2 weeks, and I can't get any running in to get some badly needed cardio beforehand. If this doesn't get better by next week I'm just going to drop the league.

best advice is if you sit down a lot, get up every hour and just walk around for 5 minutes. static stretching won't really do a lot for you except provide temporary relief.
some good strengthening exercises are single leg glute bridges and back extensions, try to do them with full range of motion or as far as you can go. you really don't want to avoid back exercises, that's how it becomes weak. I wouldn't avoid deadlifts either, just find a variation that works for you, i.e: trap bar, block pulls, RDL, dumbbell RDLs, etc.
as for little things that may or may not help, try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your legs. i've heard of people sleeping on the floor because a soft mattress just makes your back sink in.

Last night I did some slow deadlifts with just 20 lb barbells. 3X 10 reps. Today my backpain is completely gone.
So is deadlift good for backpain? just don't use heavy weights?

I'm in the same shoes as you, stayed away from deadlifts and squats because i ****ed my **** up in my 20s. Also I'm not as flexible. I also sit a lot for work. I've been working on strengthen my core, hamstrings, and glutes and also working on flexibility. I feel a bit better but time will tell.

This helped me immensely
Cause of my lower back pain was tight hips and hamstrings

Lots of videos being shared so I'll throw this in here. The comments look like they are shilling the vid but they are actually from real people. I started doing this vid a couple of years ago and my lower back pain was gone in 3 or 4 gym days. Quick 12 minute stretch & strengthening routine but my god it works. 6.5 million views, posted 10 years ago and still as relevant as ever.

I have degenerative disks in my lower back and I'll have flare ups every now and then, but I almost always have varying degrees of discomfort. Stretching in the morning helps but a quality mattress (and pillow) can't be emphasized enough. I bought a tempurpedic bed last year and the difference between that and my old pillow top mattress is night and day, and there literally is no comparison to a plain box spring mattress. If you're on a budget get a Purple or a Nectar, those aren't bad either.
