R.I.P Cliff Burton. Wonder how much better Metallica would have been if he had survived that bus crash.

I cringe but I must admit this is true...Seen 'em twice.

First time as the headliner, second time as an opener.

Still haven't seen Metallica, mainly because they only seem to play stadiums for hundreds of dollars/ticket.

Just heard the acoustic intro on Fade to Black when I was driving yesterday...when I parked my car I had to sit there a moment and just take it in.

Metallica's first 4 definitely rip. Enjoy Black Album, too. Everything after that just feels weird for some reason. Their newest two went back to the roots but somehow missed something to it. I liked Newstead as a Cliff replacement (RIP), but they don't seem to utilize Trujillo like Suicidal Tendencies did.

Also, don't sleep on the rest of thrash. Exodus probably have the best riffs in the genre, IMO.

Well they aren't going to magically forget how to play their instruments. As long as Hetfields voice holds out they'll be worth seeing live.

Doesn't change the fact that they haven't written a good song since the early 90s.

Decent Musicians, emphasis on melodic development, well crafted songs, a major step up from typical metal (screech and holler). I'm not a metal fan (my tastes run to earlier hard rock like the Stooges, MC5, etc) but I like Metallica same goes for Eminem and The Roots which are much better than most rap/hip-hop

Seen them live 4 times and they are so so good. One of the few bands who's live recordings sound better than studio. St. Anger is a ****ty album everything else is actually very good-great. But even St. Anger has some half decent songs and are pretty good live. It seems like Metallica actually gets better the older they get. I'm sure in the 80s they were awesome as they revolutionized metal but here we are 30-40 years later and they seem better.
