50% more likely to have a stroke sounds terrifying... trouble is only 8 in 1000 people had a stroke in the control group, which increased to 12 in 1000 in the covid-recovered group. Brb they could have also said an additional 1 out of every 250 people who caught covid had a stroke compares to the control group... Brb doesn't sound scary enough to put it that way, let's go with percentage increases on dismally low incidence rates to get maximum alarm bells ringing.
No chit having a flu that puts strains on your organs will increase risk of organ diseases. But at that rate it's a pretty small risk.
Also let's not be totally ignorant of the fact that the control group was PRE covid, meaning death rates were far lower for things like drug overdoses and rates of alcoholism were also lower.... Both of which are probably more common in vets. That doesn't seem to have been factored into consideration at all.
They do mention that rates increased for people who were not hospitalized for covid, however I would be interested to see by how much-- it's entirely possible the bulk majority of increases were in fact seen in hospitalized patients who we know may have have been treated with organ damaging substances or devices like remdesivir or ventilators
I have seen good studies published by Nature but I don't really know if this is thorough enough.

The increase is much higher for those who were hospitalized or in ICU.

^^^
These charts are comparing those who had covid with a "contemporary cohort", or IOW a group of people that were not diagnosed with covid during the same time period [during the pandemic].
They also compared to a second cohort of historical records prior to the pandemic and didn't put charts in for that. You can look at the tables.
https://static-content.springer.com/...MOESM1_ESM.pdf
Contemporary Cohort:
Stroke- 7.94 per 1000
Dysrhythmia- 29.64 per 1000
Myocardial Infarction- 4.73 per 1000
Heart Failure- 16.48 per 1000
Thrombotic Disorders- 7.25 per 1000
****************************
Historical Cohort:
Stroke- 8.1 per 1000
Dysrhythmia- 31.92 per 1000
Myocardial Infarction- 4.49 per 1000
Heart Failure- 17.92 per 1000
Thrombotic Disorders- 6.5 per 1000
**********************
COVID-19 Patients Who Survived 30 Days:
Stroke- per 1000
Non-hospitalized- 9.79 [vs. 8] From 0.8% to 0.98%
Hospitalized- 24.08
ICU- 34.06
Dysrhythmia- per 1000
Non-hospitalized- 39.36 [vs. 30-32] From about 3% to about 4%
Hospitalized- 110.50
ICU- 212.25
Myocardial Infarction- per 1000
Non-hospitalized- 1.14 [vs. 5 ] Unlikely to have a heart attack = unlikely to be hospitalized for covid.
Hospitalized- 20.42
ICU- 37.27
Heart Failure- per 1000
Non-hospitalized- 22.52 [vs. 17-18] From 1.7- 1.8% to 2.25%
Hospitalized- 63.27
ICU- 95.67
Thrombotic Disorders [blood clots]- per 1000
Non-hospitalized- 12.56 [vs. 6-7] From .6 - .7% to 1.25%
Hospitalized- 46.44
ICU- 100.24
So for those NOT hospitalized the risk increase for most of these is in the range of 1% or less.
The largest increase was for "thrombotic disorders" aka:blood clots, which you could say "doubled". Stay hydrated. Maybe take some low dose aspirin for a little while. *not medical advice* lol

Come on OP. We all know the Omicron is way more beneficial than mRNA.
