Anywhere remote that spends most of the time upwind from major population centres, in a well prepared shelter. Some parts of Alaska would work well, though surviving is difficult there anyway. Some really good choices in Canada, Australia etc. too.

South America and Africa aren't getting nuked, they're not involved. So setting up there is a great option if you can defend yourself from the locals.

I've been thinking about this. One of my spots is Argentina - Buenos Aires. For price examples you can rent a 1 bedroom apt for 300 USD easily per month. Money goes a long way there and the women are beautiful.

I was kind of joking. But in all seriousness, the safest place has to take many things into account:

1) A non-NATO country that is unlikely to be involved in the conflict
2) A country that lacks natural resources such as oil and gas
3) A country safe from cataclysmic Earth activity such as a poleshift, tsunami's, volcanic activity, drastically increased sea levels, as well as solar flares/EMP.
4) Areas away from large population centers that are self sufficient

This means anywhere in Africa away from the coastline.

Yeah, I got that vibe, but Antarctica isn't a bad option at all. I mean, I wouldn'tliketo live there, but if food supply was assumed--Am not sure how much food is kept on site at any one time at an Antarctic research station--the only bottleneck is actually getting there.



Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea. There's no idea which doesn't have drawbacks, and I'm a guy used to highly detailed and pedantic analysis.

About two or three years back, everybody was marveling at Israel's "Iron Dome" about how certain cities had near-perfect missile defense systems. Now ratchet that up by 100x and extend it over the whole continental USA. As it stands, if nuclear war does happen, there's very little chance any nuclear missiles actually hit the USA. Our defense allies would all be toast though.

IMO, I'm in one of the safest places in the world. Australia, far away from any major city or population centre, and not too far from the equator. If chit and fan meet I need only sit pretty, then implement a real plan if it really goes tits up.

If something like that does happen, I'd probably pack my truck up and head up to the local mountain. I'd camp in my truck bed and survive off melted snow and local game/fish.

Honestly though I'd probably rather be in one of the Dakota's or Montana. More rainfall and local game to live off of. I know misc hates Canada, but I wouldn't mind living in some upper portion of it in the middle of the woods.
