Depending on what activity I’m doing, I carry either my 329PD, or 870 Marine Magnum.

329PD for fishing / biking / secondary while hunting.

870 for hiking or just camping.

If a pistol is what you have, that should be fine. 9mm or .45 ACP would be a good bet for human and animal predators. However if you have one, a 12ga shotgun is the GOAT for close range self defense.

i think the DE .50 is really just a novelty/movie prop gun. its like the rifle cal revolvers, they are neat to have and shoot but really not practical. chambered in .44MAG its a bit more useful. Magnum research makes really nice equipment though.

A shotgun has to be #1 for protection. Dont even need to precisely aim. Just aim in general direction and pepper any predators Angus whether it be human or animal with steel pellets.

In addition to meth heads you got bears in Alaska too. So minimum .357 or 10mm for pistols.

One of those cool little sawed off 12 gauges would be nice, something like a mossberg shockwave or remington Tac-14 would be nice.

Or a little PDW or SBR type gadget. Like an AR or AK pistol. The Maxim defense PDX 300 is super cool, as well as the Sig Sauer MCX Rattler or a Micro CZ Scorpian
