Maybe the alcoholic toothless bear chitting itself shouldn't have sperged out to such an extent that even Finland (who already gave a crash course to the Soviets in winter warfare, yet didn't want to join NATO) and Sweden (nah, we're neutral all the way) are going to join NATO.

DGAF about no Russia, just seems odd at this point in modern times
I dont think the world would side idle by is Russia acted aggressive towards any Nordic country... I mean look at what Ukraine has been receiving currently as a non NATO member

I wonder if Finland would have applied to join NATO if Putin had just stayed at home with his military? (Rhetorical question, BTW, no need to answer)

Had the American installed regime in ukraine not been flirting with joining NATO, there would no be reason for the Russians to invade. Do you suppose Russia should just accept hostile military bases and missles pointed at them from right across their border?
America should sit this one out, it is beyond hypocrisy for us to say "its none of Russia's business what their neighbors are doing" when we have the Monroe doctrine. nor should we play world police when we are a dying empire.
I do not care about some corrupt foreign country that our dual citizen elites happen to have their filthy mitts in every crevice of, We should be focused on fixing our own pile of chit country
let Russia take over the east ukraine. It makes no difference. The ukraine people would be better off under Putin anyway, not that you care about everyday people, you seem to just spew western media talking points and **** post for reactions.

Finland’s leaders say country shouldapply for NATO membership ‘without delay’
Finland’s President Sauli Niinisto and Prime Minister Sanna Marin said Thursday that the country should apply to join NATO “without delay.”
Thursday’s announcement is the strongest sign yet that Finland will make a formal application to join NATO. Membership would be historic for the Nordic country, which has had a decades-long policy of military neutrality.
“Finland must apply for NATO membership without delay.” the leaders said in a joint statement, adding that they hoped that “the national steps still needed to make this decision will be taken rapidly within the next few days.”
“NATO membership would strengthen Finland’s security” and that Finland’s membership would in turn “strengthen the entire defence alliance.”

Russia threatens‘retaliatory steps’if Finland joins NATO
Russia has slammed Finland’s plans to apply to join NATO imminently, claiming it would “be forced” to retaliate if the long-neutral country joined the military alliance.
“Finland joining NATO is a radical change in the country’s foreign policy,” the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement Thursday. “Russia will be forced to take retaliatory steps, both of amilitary-technical and other nature, in order to stop threats to its national security arising.”

You realize countries help out other countries even if they are NATO members or not, NATO is not the only pact
Whats the benefit of the US staying in NATO for the US?
Why does the US need to have a FOB with other countries on Russia's border, US has all kinds of op's in the region let alone the newest tech.
The US is and always have given mass amounts of humanitarian/financial aid, technology, weapons, intel ..... other than Americans on the ground.
The US pays the most into NATO while all these other countries leech and if these other countries join in.... American will not only be financing everything, our troops would be some of the first to be sacrificed.
join this team in case "X" happens...Russian might do "X" so we need to do this
What is NATO doing to slow / stop China's aggression in their region

You realize countries help out other countries even if they are NATO members or not, NATO is not the only pact
if ukraine was nato, countries would hellp ukraine a lot more than they do now, lik eput a no fly zone or sum chitTheres a reason why putin is chitting in his pants whenever a country joins nato

If US wants to station troops in Europe - and of course it would want to since once again, force projection and protecting interests/alliances - then that one's on them

But to answer your question: it's assisting Ukraine in A: bending over Russia and removing it as a future threat B: acting as a major deterrent to China and the rest of the globe by showing that NATO is actually ready to keep aggressors in check and trying to compete with the pockets and equipment of the two largest economic blocks - all this over Ukraine, which doesn't even register on the map compared to Taiwan - would be a terrible idea.
tl;dr - US being far the biggest player in the largest military alliance on the planet does actually carry some benefits for the US as well

Sweet, while the US continues to have it's standard of living eroded let's add another tit we can throw billows away too. Nothing will make Poots angrier than watching the US bleed itself dry.

NATO-member Turkey not supportive of Finland, Sweden joining NATO
President Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday it was not possible for NATO-member Turkey to support plans by Sweden and Finland to join the pact given thatthe Nordic countries were "home to many terrorist organisations".
Though Turkey has officially supported NATO enlargement since it joined the U.S.-led alliance 70 years ago, its opposition could pose a problem for Sweden and Finland givennew members need unanimous agreement.
Turkey has repeatedly slammed Sweden and other Western European countries for its handling of organisations deemed terrorist by Ankara, including the Kurdish militant groups PKK and YPG, and the followers of U.S.-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen. Ankara says Gulenists carried out a coup attempt in 2016. Gulen and his supporters deny the accusation.

It's happening...
Finland will apply to join NATO, president says, in a historic move for the neutral country
Finland will apply for membership of NATO, the country’s president said Sunday, in a historic move for the Nordic country, which has had a decades-long policy of military neutrality.
In a press conference alongside Prime Minister Sanna Marin, President Sauli Niinisto said: “Today, we, the president and the government’s foreign policy committee, have together decided that Finland ... will apply for NATO membership.”
He added that being a member of the military alliance will “maximize” Finland’s security after Russia’s unprecedented invasion of Ukraine in February.

Turkey is threatening to block NATO membership for Sweden and Finland
NATO ascension for a new member state requires consensus approval from all existing members.
Turkey, which joined the alliance in 1952, is a crucial player in NATO, boasting the second-largest military in the 30-member group after the United States.
