All this Air Fryer hype on the misc and my gf constantly bugging me to get one has seriously made me consider getting it.

But I have some questions first:

1. What kind of features/options should I be looking into for an air - fryer? I dont want to get something that's so big and expensive since I'm only one person + gf whenever she's around.

2. Are Air fryers really more healthier than baking in the oven? I love grilling/baking in the oven with a ton of spices and sauces - Does the air-fryer still work with that for chicken recipes?

3. Is the air fryer cutting friendly? I know it's cals in cals out, but since i'm "frying" the food isnt that considered more fattening?

4. Can I add oil to the fryer? like sprinkle in olive oil and chit?

reps and thanks out in advance.

it is a convection oven, just with higher heat transfer than your typical large oven due to higher air flow. air frier just sounds sexier than countertop convection oven.

You can't even use a pisser I wouldn't expect you to know how to operate a kitchen appliance.

If you like fried food it requires much less oil to get food nice and crispy. But honestly, I don't even know how to cook. I just look chit up on the internets, throw it in the air fryer, then 15-20 mins later I'm eating some great tasting food with little effort or mess.

The air fryer that was linked in this thread has like 50k ratings on Amazon and almost 5 stars. Its bigger than mine and I'm gonna buy it when I get home.

Been asking the same ****. The only answer I seem to get is 'it's more efficient'.

BRB, I just preheat my ****ing oven while I'm prepping my food.

I've been big on them for years, but lately I've been using my crockpot way more. I should consider getting an instapot/pressure cooker.

It's great if you're cooking for 1 or 2 people. Prep time cut in half, cleanup almost non existent. Basically it makes oven cooking much better for single people.

1. Basket type is what you want. 6 quarts. You will be able to cook a chicken in it. Instant Vortex Plus is what I have. Costco has something like it that seems to work well.

2. It's the same as the oven, but it takes waaaay less time to cook things. And everything turns out crispier or juicier.

3. You're not frying, you're just baking.

4. You can definitely spray on oil on the food. It's not a deep fryer though.

So here's the advantages:

1) 2 min preheat. Often I don't bother.
2) Everything cooks way faster. Hash browns in 8 mins instead of 22 in the oven.
3) Crispy foods turn out really crispy.
4) Timer. It turns off after the timer is done. I can go downstairs in the morning, put in some eggs for instance, and let it do its thing, take a shower and come down and have soft-boiled eggs ready.
5) Cleanup. Small bowl is easy to wash by hand.

Also you can reheat bread from frozen in 8-10 mins and it comes out PERFECT.

Yeah, it isn't some revolutionary thing but it's nice for single dudes to meal prep with. Like one miscer said, much better texture compared to baking and a lot easier than pan frying. Clean up is easy, etc. I've been making a ton of chicken thighs in mine lately.

You have to get a legit air fryer not a convection oven that they also label as an air fryer.

Idk if I should get one or not. I'm very proficient in the kitchen and really don't need anything on easy mode. Don't know if I need another gadget. I cook 5 nights/week, sometimes elaborate meals, sometimes simple meals. I've been cooking for 20+ years.
