I'm doing Vanessa Tib's meal plan and I just woke up hungry and annoyed.
https://simplyshredded.com/vanessa-t...s-edition.html
I started a week ago and it's been rough. I ate a cookie the first 2 nights but I've been good since then. I pleaded with my daughter to stop bringing cookies home but I found out I have diabetes now so that gives me 10,000,000 times more reasons to limit sweets.
I'm at the end of dat dere help, #1 for this year.

Goal: 20lbs loss

In.
Dear diary incoming (feel free to not read everything):
I've been 'cutting' since September of last year, but more just "general fitness increasing" than cutting - added in more walking, actual cardio, etc. for health reasons (and because getting winded walking up two flights of stairs isnota good look, no matter how much muscle a person is carrying on their fat-fukk frame lol).
Since September I've gone from 242 -> ~228 (My most recent weight on 2/19), but I gotreallyfukking sick on the 20th and have been basically house-bound (other than hospital and doc appointments) since then. No activity, minimal appetite, sh!t quality sleep, etc.
Gonna hit the gym for the first time since then today, and get my current weight. Being sedentary for 3+weeks would make me think I've gained back some of the weight, but my appetite has been incredibly low and honestly I think my face looks leaner than before, and with the loss of water weight from not getting pumps regularly I actually probably am lighter than I was (again, largely water weight). But we will see.
My plan is to start back slowly - my tolerance for activity is still incredibly low, but I imagine it'll come back pretty quickly as I ease into it and continue recovering overall.
Starting weight: 222
Goal weight: ~215 (but willing to drop to ~210 if necessary)
Current plan of action (to be altered and overall increased as activity tolerance increases w/recovery):
-Walk5 mornings per week, approximately 20 minutes (2000 steps. This is purely to increase my overall daily activity tolerance, and will be increasing to 30 mins/3000 steps quickly)
-"Cardio"2 days per week (meaning purposeful increase in HR (aiming for 30 mins sustained HR between 140-160), unlike the walks I plan to do which are more just for increasing my daily activity tolerance)
-Lift2 days per week (Full body. Yes, only 2 lifting session per week. I genuinely don't think my current activity tolerance will allow for more than that, but I believe as I continue to recover I will be able to transition to a higher frequency and intensity fairly quickly)
-"Clean" diet. I'm honestly not at a point of needing to track macros (other than my daily protein goal) or even CICO. Health issues causing severe appetite decrease means even though I'm going to be cutting, I will be focusing on getting enough food in vs. limiting intake. And one of the bigger benefits of a long (15+ year) training history is you do sort of learn to just habitually assess what you're putting into your piehole and can get "close enough" for early cutting stages. As anyone in this thread with experience cuttingbelow12% will attest to - the later stages are when it really becomes important to track things closely.
It's hard to really assess where I'm at in terms of bf% currently (Effects of my health issues, probable fluctuations in weight and massive water weight differences), but last month on the 19th at 228 I was (visually) on track to be at 12% at 215. Back in the day I used to cut into the 10% range, but it's been a long time since I've felt any real reason to do so - I honestly think natties look best in the 12-14% range (depending on an individual's specific fat distributions) and I personally perform better in that range than when I go below. It's just personal preference though.
Oh and OP - without seeing your legs, face, lower back, and glutes (srs, no homo. Necessary for proper assessment) I would peg those pics solidly at 14%, not 15%. Not a massive difference, obviously. And you have a look you are going for rather than a specific bf% (this is the correct way to cut, btw. People who focus on the numbers vs how they look tend to fail more often), but I figured I'd weigh in with my opinion anyway.
Edit:
Weight today at the gym was 222. Lower than I expected, tbh. Kind of worried I'll need to cut more than I want to, but it is what it is.
Workout went okay-ish. Definitely nowhere near performing at my best - I cut down volumeandweight from what I would 'normally' be able to do and yet still was struggling pretty significantly. Had to take long-azz rests, and by the end of the workout felt kind of like passing out. And not in the good "did a really hard workout" way. Fugging sucks, brahs. But one day at a time.
