a famine would be great for america 70% of population is fatfuks, their health metrics will improve a lot from eating less food for months.

human body can survive a lot with just water and bare minimum food.

I've really only talked to smaller operations, large vineyards workers and watched local news northern california.

The transition to organic is easy for people growing perennials, people growing grapes and hops can make the transition almost seamless.

The issue is grains, synthetic fertilzier has faster growth. With synthetic fertilzier corn can go from seed to harvest in 70 days, with organic it is close to 100 days. In this climate that is the difference between having 2 harvests a year Vs 3 harvests a year. For a large farm with paper tight profit margins that is cutting 30% of their yield. Granted, if you can find the right buyer you can charge more for organic.

The issue with the small market and farm to table gardeners is that there is too many of them now. Everyone and there uncle quit their job during the pandemic and started a market garden on a1 or 2 acre plot. There are now twice as many farm stands at Saturday Market and restaurants are being bombarded with new farm to table growers wanting to sell them food, I'm sure you know.

I had to look this up to believe it but it's true wtf

They found that obesity amongst the homeless (32.3 percent) was almost as high as among the general population (33.7 percent). However, homeless women had a significantly higher percentage of obesity (42.8 percent) than non-homeless women (35.3 percent).

There could be a food shortage, or at least a big increase in food prices. I would stock up now if you haven't already

Also the WEF is talking about "cyberattacks" on the power grid, so there might be power outages as well. I would look into alternative sources of power

I grow most of of food myself so unless biden comes and seizes my compost Stash im all set.

You brahs should all get into edible gardening. You can grow a fuk ton of food in your backyard in a clean 100% organic way and it's an actually fun and rewarding process.

Start composting your organic waste, get some seeds and get to it!

Good thing my relatives just sold our 2000 acres… I don’t know anything about farming so I wonder if the expense is worth it. I would imagine with the shortages this would be a good time to produce. You boyos ready for the next Great Leap Forward?

Yes. Most fertilizer comes from Russia. Sanctions caused a massive fertilizer shortage. Expect low yields this fall by us farmers. Everything requires crops besides wild game. Go hunting Brahs

Actually interesting perspective for me to think about since I worked in California for near a decade well over a decade ago so I understand what I think is happening there. I think nationally places like Washington, Idaho, Oregon are going to be much more successful then California due to 1) the saturation in SMALL (hobby farms) and difficultly of LARGE Scale ops. While other states have a bit more of a middle ground going on and more local resources whereas California needs water.
