I feel like Russia being a near peer was just US propaganda to keep the money flowing for our military. There's just no way they have the logistical/strategic experience to come anywhere near the US capabilities with how much we spend on training and equipment.

But also, 40k troops dead in a month just sounds extremely fake. Vietnam took years to reach 50k US dead and that was with tons of large battles all over the country along with daily combat patrols and deaths. This whole thing just seems weird and unbelievable on both sides.

There is no military that can ever hope to compare to the US in terms of a conventional war. The last country to try this was Iraq in the 90s and it was a bloodbath that took less than 3 months. China has more man power and MAYBE equal tech in some sense, but they know they stand no chance in a standard fight which is why they would only wage a proxy war through other countries. The US war budget is larger that the next 9 countries...combined. The US navy AIR WING alone is larger than the next 6 or 7 world navies combined. Thing few thing russia has going for them is their Field artillery, armor and SAM systems.

Lol...wouldnt be the 1st time russians have been demonized...but considering that Ukr was the one who was attacked, its not too hard to see why Ukr would be painted in a positive light and Russian being demonized, yet again....but this isnt just typical war propganda, it certainly is being used to weaken russia as a leading nation.

Putin has absolutely taken a huge L.

He thought he would take Ukr, like he did with crimea and the world would barely bat an eye.

He faced significantly stronger resistance both militarily and politically and severely miscalulated.

This is why I don't believe ANY "official" numbers, not COVID deaths, not historical event numbers nobody was there to count, not these numbers, cause nobody ever keeps an accurate count and they're always fudged to be higher than they realistically could be.
