Capitalism. We made this money, we can make more if we cut this corner! So on and so on until you get OPs sandwich. Business could never be happy with current earnings and a quality product, always has to cheap out to eek out another dime.

Not having to buy actual food products but synthetic food products helps profit margins.

They were the first fast food place with fresh ingredients but now those are everywhere. Nothing makes subway special anymore except for thr fact the a$$hole in front of you gets to take fifteen minutes picking his toppings which was once a feature and is now a drawback especially since it's normal now for there to only be two people working whereas fifteen years ago there would be like four motherfackers back there slinging sandwiches.

Hands down some of the worst breakfast items. They some how lock up key locations like Air Ports and make a ton of money. Their advertisement is great, but products are trash. It's clear back when you worked with them in 2006 they put a lot of money in their produce. Once they locked up a decent amount of key locations that they knew would have high traffic no matter what the quality was, they pulled all that money for produce and dumped it into advertisement. Companies do this bait and switch all the time.

Even with health products. They always remove the key ingredient that made the item good just to cheap out and sell at max product.

There are glowies on the misc now. Don't fall for the bait.

I've never really got it. You pick something and then get asked 8 different questions about it by someone who can barely speak English. If I wanted to choose every part of my sandwich I'd have gone and bought the stuff from a supermarket.

The salad is usually limp and brown to the point where it would have been thrown out if I saw that in my fridge.
If you can't handle me when I'm incel, you don't deserve me when I'm chad

This. Plus normies like the feeling of mild power they get from telling the ******* what you want on your sandwich.

Subway made the mistake of trying to compete with just price. The $5 foot long was the end of subway as it left them unable to raise prices to compete with places like Jersey Mike's.

Price competition is a terrible idea when you're dealing with something as basic as sandwiches. It leaves you with chit tier ingredients when food prices increase because you can't raise prices accordingly.

They are provided you don't get a chicken bacon ranch sub or cheese steak. Just stick to the lunch meat, cheese, vegetable sandwiches.

I've gone 2 or 3 times in my life and was always horrible. I see them everywhere though. You could be on Navaho land 300 miles away from the nearest city and the one franchise they'll have will be a subway.
