I got into an argument with him where he claimed basketball wasn't a sport because the talent pool is smaller (you have to be a certain height).

I don't know the context behind this statement, but as part of my graduate work Civil/Environmental engineering I read a few journal articles on similar subjects. It's actually a fascinating topic. Here's an article for fish that came up from a quick google search.

Fish sexuality appears to be affected by small doses even when the contaminants are at the very edge of our ability to detect them. The next question is what effect if any are there on humans? Fish live in the water so it's expected that they would be more impacted. It's relatively easy to identify cause and effect for a stimulus that will affect half of a population but far more difficult to figure out what's going on when one or two out of one thousand are affected.

Actually, I'm a psychotherapist that has been working most of my life with criminals and drug addicts.

I currently work in very high crime areas of Philadelphia and know what I'm talking about. You probably do not.

If you live in a war zone you have to watch out where you go, who are your friends, etc. If you play the drug game, it tends not to end well.

As I've said, had she reported the boyfriend to the cops, she would be alive.

Personally, I know many people who use drugs and I now refuse to make friends with new people that do. That's because I have known many people who overdosed and died. One particular person died and it really hurt my feelings for various reasons, thus drug addicts are dangerous people for me to know. So, now I do not want to know them in my personal life.

This just makes sense.
