Sit/stand desk. If I had room I'd def have one. I currently put my monitors and keyboard on household stuff when I want to stand and work. I usually try to do 2 or more hours a day.

I bought my coffee table and claimed it as an office desk. LMAO at spending your stipend to be "more effective"

While beautiful, that style above is just not me. But I love to look at those sorts of design aesthetics! There's a story behind everything in that picture. The rug is from Turkey, the shoji screen is from my uncle's high school in JapanMy friend grew the plants, and that mug cracks me up

funny enough, I think a minimalist desk is where it is at for concentration

a dirty or cluttered desk makes it impossible for me to work

I have one of those elongated monitors + keyboard + mouse + laptop

work on the elongated monitor, laptop monitor have some news or podcast playing

additional keyboard because laptop is on the side

Here's mine, open to suggestions. Lamp could use an upgrade for sure.

Running a tube amp for tunes (just upgraded tubes), wireless phone stand, and vertical mouse, all which I highly recommend. Definitely prioritize your chair choice (very adjustable one), followed by the monitor and desk size/height.

The only thing I'm still debating is an HDMI/USB switch so I can switch PCs without having to switch the mouse as well. Amazon has some, but please post if there's one you like. Or could just do a USB switch. I just hate wires despite the tuck job that I've done.

When my laptop is open it's eye level, really

And yeah! That was my goal. Kinda bohemian but minimalist at the same time. Thank you!

My WFH is similar, except I've got a massive desk. oversized mousepad is where i keep writing material + desk phone, but i always remove it after i'm done for the day.

I use tubes too bro. also, a newer mac mini (behind vertical monitor) for streaming (misc etc). Right monitor is gaming/wfh and that computer is on the floor.

Since your desk isn't that big i would suggest closing the laptop lid and keeping it on the bottom level or docked in one of those clamps. Thatll feel much more open for you

I like the pay attention to ergonomics like a comfortable, well positioned chair, a foot stool and a split keyboard to prevent carpal tunnel.

Easiest pound-for-pound postural improvement is a keyboard. Plug it in, and you can move your laptop screen to whatever height you want provided you have sufficient books.

Would also really endorse an adjustable desk. I got a solid electric one with 4 custom heights for $250 off wayfair. I don't stand a ton, but it's super nice to stand or squat when I do want to.

Congrats again! Cool you're getting a stipend.

I had to recently replace my Knoll Regeneration chair. Pretty sure Herman Miller just bought Knoll, but their older chairs had ****ty warranties and mine start showing wear a few years in.

I just got this Herman Miller Cosm chair which I absolutely love. Invest in a quality chair.

I like this CalDigit TS3 Plus Dock. It allows me to connect all my devices in one central hub. Also one USB-C port can be used to connect to all my monitors.

Unfortunately the prices of these have doubled since getting them, but overall great for cable management.

Sit/standing desk is a good idea.

I'd recommend one nice widescreen monitor also.

Thank you, Sword! You rock. I got my onboarding paperwork today, I'm so happy!!!

All really great suggestions and in line with what others are suggesting. I'm going to look into these and hopefully in a few months post my new and improved setup

On spread with soooo many, I'll get you, I promise!
