If the officer was trained to react in that way, do you think he should be convicted? It seems wrong to me to put a person in jail, especially one who's putting their own life on the line every day...for something he was trained to do.

This shows how many people have the mindset that police are above the law. They’re not. If your boss tells you to do something illegal and you do it, congratulations, you still broke the law.

Why would you even want to be a cop?
oh this guy overdosed while resisting arrest and died, brb cop gets 30 years in jail.
oh this suicidal guy wouldn't drop his gun, brb cop gets 25 years in jail.
Cops are dealing with the absolute bottom tier of society... We should be giving them a TON of slack.

Of course, its not easy either. But its not as difficult as some folks make it out to be. All you do is clock in, patrol, write up some tickets, and once in a while you'll have to respond to some domestic violence calls.

Camera 2 shows how cop just runs up like he just couldn't wait to shoot somebody.

My first rule as a president: obey the cop and don’t endanger yours and his life or you deserve to die.
That’s it. Now if the cop abuses their power, forces someone to do something that is not within the law. Give them the electric chair.
Authority works both ways. You’ve been given great power so people should respect that power if you abuse that authority then you deserve 10x the punishment since you had 10x the power.
Cops shouldn’t lose their life cos they made a bad call, that happens. Imagine we go back and sentence judges 25 years in prison cos they made 1 bad call in the past, given a harsher sentence than they should have. Or give jurors 25 years cos they judged guilty on an innocent person.
Everyone makes mistakes on the job, cops just happen to have a lot more on the line. That’s why it’s extremely important that since their mistake has so much on the line, we minimise those mistakes as much as possible. One of the ways to minimise mistakes is to comply. To not comply and be a “tough guy” is basically endangering yours and the cops life, for that you deserve to die.

So based on that anecdotal alone, where y you estimate AT LEAST 51% of cops want to kill, I’d say you are wayyyyyy off the mark statistically speaking.
I mean technically, if we go by “most” as 51% at the very least, then the chances of a cop not wanting to kill me would only be 49%. The chances of a cop not wanting to kill me 20 times in a row is like 0.00006%.

Not all cops save lives. Hate that ****. Not every soldier is a hero, either. One's occupation =/= hero.
Cops DO deserve 10x the punishment, but they more often than not get away with stuff because they're cops. That idiot was there less than 15 seconds and he killed someone. He didn't even have time to assess the situation.
Yes, they should, if the call is bad enough. That guy could've been going through some kind of mental issue. The cop had no ****ing clue. ELEVEN SECONDS. You want people to respect cops but that moron tookmaking eye contactand a shoulder shrug as justification to kill him. Think about that for a second. Eye contact and a ****ing shoulder shrug. Judges also deserve 10x the punishment if they end someone's life like that. You're reaching with the jurors. That's asinine unless it's racially motivated or something like that.
They signed up for the job. They knew what they were getting in to.
I'm 100% with you on the complying thing. People that commit a crime, don't comply, and get hurt often deserve it. Stupid games, stupid prizes. The cop was the one playing stupid games this time, though.

The police department should not have to respond for subjects feeling suicidal in their own home. Its not a criminal matter to feel suicidal or to be armed in his own home. As long as he isn't a threat to the public it should be hands off. I bet they have crap policy/training around dealing with these kind of people. If you can't call them/talk to them over the phone its a mistake to go up to the door and talk to them that close.
Dealing with suicidal people is extremely high risk because occasionally they'll shoot at the police/attempt to kill the first cop so the second one kills them.. Its just really not worth getting killed and/or having to shoot someone and deal with the legal liabilities.
I've seen guys suicide by cop before and I've also safely negotiated people to drop their gun and get some medical help. Also nearly been shot twice by suicidal people. Overall in my experience 'saving a life' isn't worth the risk or stress. Its literally all risk & no real reward. Even if you 'save' them you'll be dealing with them and their crazy on another day in the future. Furthermore if you do have to shoot and kill a suicidal person you'll be demonized by the family/media.
Its going to sound harsh but in my experience there is absolutely no upside to preventing a suicide. Especially the type individual that arms themself with a firearm. Its definitely not worth getting killed/going to prison over. Officer should have stayed far in the back so he wouldn't put himself in that position.
