If you see yourself, your woman and your judgement of character in the 50% of morons then you probably shouldn’t get married.

90% of startups fail too, does that mean you should never start a business? If you see yourself in that 90%, then don’t. If you think you have an edge to not be part of that 90%, then go for it.

A successful marriage is worth more than a successful startup in many ways but the risk actually looks lower.

...and thats just the statistics of the people that had the courage to legally end it it.

A LOT more than 50% of marriages end...a significant portion just never go to the court house to make it official.

In my experience about 10% of the marriages truly make it without one or both parties checking out but "stay for the kids"..

The reason for the figure is that a lot of imbalanced fools get married quickly and then divorced quickly. People who plan to get married tend to last longer than one year, and then longer than that.
isn't the actual stat pretty much the number people that have gotten married in a particular year, versus the number of people that got divorced in that same year, and that's how they arrived at that 50% figure?

The stat is influenced by crazy people who got married while drunk, are immature, got married in Vegas, and people like that. They aren't actually getting married nor do they want to, they did it on impulse and so all of these people within a year tend to get a divorce. So, 50% of first year marriages fail.

However, the people who actually got married because they plan to tend to stay married the longer they stay married. So, people married for 20 years tend to stay married for 30 years, and so on.

Negative, chief. It's 50% of all marriages. It's only about 1/3 of all first marriages end in divorce. The total marriage stats are skewed by the serial marryers who have 5 divorces and really never should have gotten married even once.

Marriages can work if it's between the right people. I'm almost to 24 years (later this month), and we are very happy. But, I don't recommend marriage unless you know without a doubt it's 100% the right person for you and you have no doubts or misgivings of any kind about it and you have no desire to be with anyone else. My wife was the first person I ever felt that way about.

Don't believe the LARPing pajeet's estimation that only 10% of marriages are happy. There certainly are dead, sexless marriages, but 90%? That's just projection on his part.
