lmao no, I talk about how retarded women can be all the time. I feel for her, especially if she'd been dismissed by law enforcement in the past. Because the two solutions here were 1) He gets arrested (unlikely, and should have he have been if there was no evidence of assault? Doubtful, but you can question someone better than "What happened here?") or scenario 2) She has to get back in a van with a psycho abuser at a remote park.

I'm not in law enforcement but I am intimately familiar with the behaviors of abusers, and even I know that if one person is eerily calm when being questioned by police and the other is hysterical, something is probably wrong. I've also seen LEO say dumb as fuk things and completely erroneous concepts about abusers, and more training does need to happen. For example, I can't count how many times I've heard "He just needs anger management!" No he doesn't, he manages his anger just fine with everyone else. It's his morals that are twisted, it's not an emotional regulation problem.

But I think more training is true across the board, it's frightening how little training cops get. Frightening for them too, not just for us.

Yeah she's totally retarded for being with him when she could have done so much better, yet I have a young family member in an abusive relationship that she can't seem to get out of. He even gave her a concussion! I told my therapist who called the police and they literally did nothing. They went to his house, no one was home, and it ended there.

I wish the police would have arrested him as she could be alive today, but like you I'm not in law enforcement so it's hard to know the situation that they witnessed and what they are trained to do.

Some LEOs are ridiculous. I had one recently pull me and another woman over as he said we were driving too slow on a very windy road with cyclists. I pulled over many times for faster traffic to pass. Doesn't he have better things to do? He even said, "do you want me to give you a ticket or just a lecture?" What???

It was all over the news at the time that people were outraged that this case was in the headlines because she was a pretty, white woman.

The only thing that letter proves is that Laundrie was a charming psychopath and that Gabby had no clue until she was too close, like everyone else in his life.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Really scary. If it's safe to do so, get her a copy of Lundy Bancroft's "Why Does He Do That?" He's run rehabilitation programs for abusers for years and years and gives excellent advice on how to leave safely. Audiobook might be the safest option for her, or keeping it at your house where she can read it when she's over.

I’m 99.9% certain he just raged killed her, considering they already had run-ins with police.

Let’s be honest, everyone has had their temper flip, I’ve been at points where I was pretty close to grabbing a knife and stabbing the fker. Glad I didn’t but during that moment, nothing mattered, just my rage.

If I had a little less control, maybe I would have.

He has motivations to write this letter, protect his family, regret… he probably means everything in that letter. Gabby loved his family, he loved her family and her. Why go down in history being so hated and his family with it. To him this is heroic, he gives up his life to paint a better future.

The story is that SHE was making up this story of "Van Life" to try to make money on the internet. So, they went on a fake trip while pretending they actually lived in a van.

She was insanely micromanaging her shot at "internet fame" and youtube money. She would constantly clean and fix the van and that was causing arguments between them.

When the cops arrived it was because SHE was attacking him and she admitted it. So, she's some immature perfectionist freaking out on her boyfriend because things weren't going "just so" and again she told the cops that she had MENTAL PROBLEMS and was prone to this behavior.

The cops made them stay in separate places for the night and then after they got back together again.

My bet is that she attacked him again and he hit her of shoved her and she hit her head. His story about hypothermia makes no sense to me.

This was an immature young couple on a road trip that caused them stress and they could not handle it to the extreme.

I've actually been around someone who was literally dying in front of my face. I was TERRIFIED of any mistake that I made was going to kill this person.

There was not an ounce of my being that thought "you know what... my dad is in severe pain right now. Why don't I just kill him to make it easier". Anyone who has been around someone that you love so intensely and is dying, there's just no way that you would ever in your life... with all the other options that you have available to you.. would think "kill this person" as the solution.
