In my experience, the guidelines which make a food halal are nowhere near as strict or extensive as kosher.

It means the food was prepared in a certain way, it wasn't mixed with other foods, maybe blessed by a Rabbi, and so on.

I'm in the food industry.

For our product, it's fairly simple. Kosher requires a Rabbi to come to our plant and bless the plant and product. Halal is actually a very basic food safety audit.

I'm sure the fees are different for each industry, but the Halal certification is currently 2x the cost of the Kosher cert.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

The only labels that concern me are nutrition labels, and even then I ignore alot of them.


The butcher near me is a halal butcher so I get halal meat alot. Sometimes that place is packed so bad the cars are lined up in the street to get in the parking lot
