Pool are wonderful and a necessity here in South Florida in the summer time. Private pool are preferred. I personally have two options for swimming. The first being my parents pool. they live abuot 5 miles from me.
Then there is a community poor. Its a lovely olympic sized pool, that was just recently redone. there is one big problem with the community pool named John. Gross John is originally from Illinois. He often hangs out at the pool, standing in a corner of the pool with a bunch of beers circling around him. He sips on his beers the whole time he is standing in the pool for hours at a time, never needing to use the bathroom in the club house. I much prefer to swim at my parents house as a result. .

I don't have a pool but imagine it would be a lot of ongoing upkeep. I live on a lake, which I use year round incl awesome cold plunges in the winter. Love my dry sauna which is a lot of fun and minimal maintenance (occasional cleaning).

I would never get use out of it. I'm just not a pool guy. They are high maintenance and they don't add value to your home. Some people they are everything. Not to me.

We have an indoor pool and we've been taking our daughter in there since she was 3 months old.
She's fascinated by the ducks on the lake, so as well as being fun, teaching her to swim has some very practical safety aspects.

I wish i had an in ground pool. Its such a huge investment and im scared of getting ripped and a chit install though.
So for now I do an above ground pool.
I agree with OP. Pools are GOAT.

I agree. I live in the South so its warm enough to swim from April 1st to late September. Hell, I could probably swim until October some years. Don't have a pool but know a few people who do. Most of my swimming is in lakes/rivers/ocean.
My next house will have a pool for sure. I don't want to install one in here because its my 'first' house. I want a bigger place plus a guest house/mother-in-law cabin on the property of my next home.

Pools are expensive as get out but goat tier for summer nights, hosting people, relaxing, parties, etc
Put a tv out there and have baseball or some chit on as background and you got yourself the good life

My house I bought 15 years ago had one. Had it removed because it was in bad shape. Had estimates to restore it but the **** was like $60k. I was like nope and had it removed for $5k.
I sometimes wonder if it was a good decision or not, but whatever.

I swap out a little cartridge once a week during heavy use, or once every 2 weeks when barely being used. Other then that, I empty and refill it like every 6 months. Barely any maintenance compared to old hot tubs.

my folks got a pool in their backyard too, we build it ourselves like a decade ago, the weather's only really good for it here for a month each year though which kinda sucks
but yeah bringing girls over when nobody else was home during summertime was pretty sweet

The pool thankfully has a U/V system, so needs less chlorine, removing the issue of the smell as well.
