They've got weird personalities. They focus too much on taking selfies, lip-sync videos, and using emojis, and as a result they seem to respond most to very exaggerated facial expressions.

Men growing up in late 19th and early 20th century were raised to avoid the limelight and drawing attention to themselves. You did your job and you never talked about it. Like for example, Neil Armstrong retired to a hobby farm after walking on the moon, Harry Truman literally packed a station wagon and drove from the White House to his in-laws' place in Missouri.

It's just kind of bizarre to see the standard for masculinity go from that to "grab attention towards myself at all costs."

I agree on your points but as an agecel I can tell you that you're just noticing 'youth'. You'll just always think that 18-25 year olds look best, regardless of technological advancements in makeup/clothes/selfies. Reasons are obvious.
