Rice is much much simpler to prepare. Add to cooker, add water, cook, done.
Baked potatoes are pretty simple just a bit of oil, salt and paper and stick them in the oven, add some butter at the end.

OP is right

& baked potato is, in my opinion, a top side to many different meals

back in the 90s, early 2000s, I'd eat a potato as a snack at work midday because I could just microwave it

obviously baking it is superior.. and I don't even own a microwave these days

also, it's ridiculous that so many restaurants are doing away with the baked potato

or you can only get them after 4pm

I've been told that it takes too much room in the oven

they should get another oven lol

Potatoes are goat for clean carbs. Mashed, par boiled, baked. Never understood the bodybuilding focus on rice when potatoes are much more diverse.

Better than fries obviously, or macaroni & cheese, but would still prefer something with protein. IE I'd prefer a side of chicken wings, even if fried, than potatoes.
