By showing racial solidarity the blacks are showing racism is true and real and tribal allegiance is important to them. Yes, if you're from Wyoming or something, seeinga lot of black people on TV may seem weird (though if that offends you, you have issues), but if you were from were I'm from, it would seem completely normal. There are many, many areas of the southeast where black people are the majority, or close to 50/50 with white people. It's why most of the crazy stuff you hear isn't about those areas. People not from here think racism is a huge deal in the south when in fact, we've been around each other so long and integrated so long that it's not something we think about much.


TLDR: Just because you barely see black people doesn't mean we aren't the majority in many areas of the southeast

Back to the topic at hand, the new Resident Evil on Netflix only has ONE white male in the entire series and its just some weird teen. And how could Albert Wesker even be black. Another aspect I forgot about in cinema is the "white savior" trope where the white character tries to help or travel to some ancient (often brown) civilization and he becomes the "savior" of that nation/person because for whatever reason, only they can stop whatever danger is about to befall said minority group (The Blind Side/Finding Forrester/Lawrence of Arabia/Dances With Wolves/The Last Samurai).

and I don't expect you to fully understand how it feels to see someone that looks like you in a lead role in a movie because Thats just the way things have always been for you, but to finally start seeing minorities in interesting takes like sci-fi/fantasy/action (as oppose to the endless list of non-fiction stories of slavery/"troubles of growing up in the hood" movies) its nice....its just, nice. I don't watch movies or tv shows solely because they have a black lead but at least on a subconscious level it peaks my interest as oppose to it being just another action film with a white guy. 1. Its a pendulum swing. About 50 years ago it was quite the opposite for minorities in America. Do you know what a Green Book is? I doubt you do with out having to google it, but my grandparents and parents are very familiar with it. They even gave me one because there are places in the US, in 2022, where it STILL needs to be used.

2. Black history was given an entire month because it wasn't taught AT ALL in schools.

3. With respect to scholarships, there is no law stating you HAVE to be a woman or black or Native American to apply for scholarships catered to those groups. When I was in college I won a couple of $50 scholarships that were intended for 1st Generation American Latinas, lol.
