Its an enormous country though with 1.4 billion population so while they are probably a superpower they are still way behind the US and its not even close

A lot of countries have oil, look at countries like Russia and Venezuela they have as much oil as the Gulf nations, but for some reason the Gulf nations are far more developed, their way of life is antithetical to the US/western way of life but to say they are rich because of oil only is not giving them enough credit for being reasonably organized, that said first world nations generally have strong gender equality rights so until they fix that they will always be considered somewhat backwards
