Mostly because of feminism in America. Everything in society has been building to a point where the average woman has been lifted up/empowered and the average man has just been torn down. Combine that with guys being raised by single moms. Feminist agenda's in the main stream for 20+ years. Anti-bullying/anti violence campaigns. Video games/porn. Etc...
A lot of men in this modern era are just weak, lack masculinity and are low tier. I'm only 35 but I grew up in the South and in a hypermasculine environment. I can see a pretty massive disconnect in younger guys vs when I was growing up. Its also pretty evident who was raised by a strong man, and who didn't have a father or who's father simply did a poor job.
Women are relatively easy to manipulate and they absolutely will fall in line with a mans frame. They are emotional by nature. If you control their emotions you control them. I place the blame for the state of society completely on men. I want to be clear I think there are still a lot of great American women with quality morals/values. The men that deserve them usually get them.
If you are a low performer and/or date a woman with an education/career that performs at a high level you're going to face more challenges. In my experience guys that can afford a home, stay a home wife and kids typically end up with the more conservative/tolerable woman.
A lot of guys simply cannot afford all of the above. So they end up with a wife that works/has a career. And the power-balance shifts even further into the womans hands.
