I have a home gym now but I really do miss going to commercial gyms. More motivation and less lonely compared working out everyday at home

I questioned if I could summon the same level of intensity. Some other posters commented about their own experiences with that and it does seem to be a con. We shall see i guess.

The only thing is miss is perving at the slots in skin tight leggings.

I can motivate myself to exercise and there’s not an excuse to miss a session.

And op, you could front squats naked and see if you balls touch the floor.

I don't have a mirror in front of the rack, but that's a neat idea for an OF routine.

Oh definitely. But you don't need to buy everything at once. Maybe consider "buy once cry once". Meaning get what you really want, and not have to buy sell rebuy sell buy.

One more thing I might like is a selectorized life fitness leg press...but I need to make a little space.  But yeah, I like my garage space more than a regular gym because it has exactly what I want. With injuries, you might be screwed at a regular gym and not even be able to squat...but with a ssb it's suddenly available. Same thing with bench and special bars, adjustments.

* Legend power rack, top and bottom band pegs

* Adjustable box squat box

* Pro maxima selectorized lat and row

* Life fitness selectorized assisted/natural dip and chin station

* EFS yoke bar safety squat bar

* Paramount total shoulder, overhead press, rear delts, shrugs

* Westside reverse hyper

* Legend glute ham developer

* Schwimn airdyne

* Rogue bench rack

* Powerblocks 0-90

* Bacta fitness adjustable bench

* Troy hex bar

* Troy interlocking olympic plates

* Pendlay olympic bar, cheap chinese olympic bar of unknown type, black widow swiss bar

* 55 and 35 kettlebells

* 20 and 10 lbs slam balls

* sorinex reversa sled dragging sled

* christian fitness factory monster trap bar (has farmers handles thick grip, regular and snatch grip handles and is 125 lbs)

* Stretching machine (not pictured)

* Pull stands / curl stands lol

* Heavy bag, jump rope
.........

I wouldn't shy away from a good quality treadmill or stairmaster or eliptical...just go ahead and buy an actual nice one and not a pos from dicks or something that will break.

If you want a LifeFitness...then get one.

It was a joke. In the post your last purchase thread I posted it back when I got it. Spoon pic meaning only a miscer would do it as a weird proof.

The rationale for a home gym varies wildly between people, but there is one factor that holds true for everybody: it saves you time.

If there are no other limiting factors, I would make the decision on the basis of time. If you are time rich, go to the gym and train at home if time poor.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

When I went to Golds I was getting sick often. I guess when your a few feet away from 150 plus people after work your bound to catch something.
I also like that I don’t have to clean equipment before I touch it , equals no Poud Pox.
I’ve worked out ,then afterwards felt as though I could have got a few more sets in. Kind of easy when it’s in your basement , so there’s no excuse.
I also used to hate waiting for dumbbells , no it’s never a problem .
Biggest bonus is it’s always open regardless of what new virus China releases that week

yep. no getting around it. walking to the living room vs traveling all the way out there. one of the biggest 'pros' about home gyms. Also, some activities are loud, like battle ropes and heavy bags. I find myself wossing out and making excuses not to do this sort of thing so as to be polite to the others. So all the fancy equipment could actually be LESS beneficial than having some good, stout pieces that all get used.
Think of this, free weights, squat rack with landmine, a couple of cardio machines, and an internet full of how to videos. I may end up with a better gym bod than actually going to the gym. At least, I would say the potential is there.
This is because I find that at the gym I gravitate now toward free weights. when I was newer, I did more on the machines. so if I'm already tending toward free weights, that indicates I may have graduated from the gym scene. arnold in the bb bible says that free weights offer a superior work out.

I had a basic home gym during covid lockdown that took a while to get due to everything being out of stock and or buying used and selling when I could get better. I ended up moving out of state for a year so I had to sell everything off going into a temporary apartment. Moved into a new home with a three car garage and just started rebuilding. I only have two gym's close by. A chain gym that tried to scam me multiple times by changing rates and a planet fitness. Don't really want to give either one my money. Chain because they did me wrong. Planet fitness for the lack of weights and this particular one can get so crowded. Even my small 90 lbs dumbbells is heavier weight than they have. I'm pretty anti social at the gym anyways and honestly a bigger guy so I tend to get mostly older guys coming and trying to talk to me about lifting / sports / high school / college days.

Right now I have the below. Good enough to do your basic lifts. Some isolation machines in the future would be great.

PRX folding wall rack (I should of bought a power rack since I have the space again)
Powerblock dumbbells (I would like a set up to 150 but they have been out of stock forever. Waiting to find some individual heavy's)
Rep adjustable bench
Rep rubber coated plates
PRX wall mount storage

During the pandemic I had someone turn and sneeze on me. I mean, come on. I guess she didn't want to sneeze on the machine. she didn't mean it, but yeah I hear you. I go hard in my work outs and I sweat a lot. so I'm happy not to have to gross people out with all the drips everywhere. Now I can just be my beastly self. Also, it doesn't matter whatever the most recent gas price crisis is going on. they can go ahead and charge $20/gal for all I care.

It also lets you train twice a day, which can be an advantage depending on how you train. You can split the session in two and do the main lift in the first session and the accessories in the second.

It's actually amazing what you can get done with relatively few pieces of equipment. I think extra equipment might prevent boredom, but you can pretty much hit all the important stuff with a few staple pieces of equipment.

Not sure if you're looking for suggestions on equipment, but a pull-up bar (preferably mounted with bolts instead of a doorway one) is such an awesome asset. I can hit pretty much every upper body muscle with that, especially if I use my rings for variations.

And if you can't do pullups unassisted, you can get fitness bands to wrap around the bar and put your feet into for assistance. This method has worked really well for getting one of my kids doing pullups -- we started by combining the 2 thickest bands and gradually reduced the band thickness as he got stronger.

I seriously thought about doing just that. I ended up just scheduling it in a block, with time for refueling after cardio. when I used to go to the gym, about half way through my work out I would get very hungry. I used to go to my gym's game room and eat a block of raw tofu with a vacant look in my eyes. But now I can creepily stare at my kitchen cabinets and listen to myself masticate. I don't even have to pack the tofu in a little walmart sac with a spoon. time saved right tehre.

My squat rack has some neat handles for pull ups. also I did get some gym rings and bands to help me build up to a pull up.
I'm hoping that you're right about really getting in a good work out. Attitude is going to make the difference now. There's really no replacing a swimming pool, but given time, I'm sure I can find something else to cry about, lol! As long as I hit all the major groups, that's what matters.

neon is commonly worn by athletes to protect against getting hit by a car. Spandex is for the purpose of wicking sweat off the body and for freedom of movement. But stick to your dhoti, hippie, and keep bitching about my haute gym fashion. You obviously don't have a word to say about gym equipment, so all you can contribute is a catty little comment about my clothes. jfl. fukk off peasant.

No travel
Heavy metal as loud as you want
Train in small 70s bodybuilding shorts
Grunt as loud as you want
Slam the weights as hard as you want
No waiting on machines
In and out within 40 intense minutes
No driving through snow storm to get to gym
Can train at 7:30-8:00 before you begin working for the day
Drag some equipment out of the garage and do sets in the summer sun, simultaneously acquiring pump and tan
List goes on and on

In order to not be biased, I'd say the only 'negatives,' if they can even be called that, is missing my old crew from the gym I trained at years ago. It was a bodybuilding gym and everyone was pretty tight. I miss those bros.
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

Anyway, how's it hanging? Want to PM me? I'm pretty sure I'm a lesbian, but I'd love to chat. I usually forget to check my messages though.
