Not at all. Kicking a soccer ball in the yard, throwing a baseball, building a model car. All of those things kids will love and ALWAYS remember. It is not the $$ attached to a moment. It is the moment. However you make it. Yes this is not a cheap hobby, but the relative cost is not what makes it enjoyable. It it the packing, the getting our stuff ready. The travel, the friends, the events, and ALL the moments in between. It could be fishing and be the same bond.

Dont get distracted by the cars. For those of you that dont have kids, it is YOUR time they want. YOUR attention. Caring about their lives and letting them be a part of your life. Lots of kids become teens and have no connection with their parents. That is the parents fault. The parent/child relationship is a dynamic one. Always changing. You get to be a real superhero in the eyes of your kids for a while, but eventually they will judge you like no one ever will. And they KNOW all your sides, even the ones many dont see. If you pass that test, and they still respect you, then I would say you have done a great job.
