Hans Zimmer is a great film composer, but saying hes greater than the immortal classical composers shows a lack of musical knowledge.

In after clive!

I think making such a comparison is simply silly, really not much less silly than comparing classical with The Rolling Stones or MJ.

Comparing Hans with other film composers is the only sensible thing.

John Williams is very clever, but not particularly original, I hear a lot of classical music in his scores. Star wars - Holst- The Planets suite is a good example.

Hans Zimmer will be the first to tell you he is nowhere near Mozart Beethoven etc. level. No serious musician would ever make such an idiotic claim. OP, seek help. LOL

You are confusing agreeable ear friendly chord progressions to create background music for movies to kinda set the mood and background for the movie scene, with actual classical music.

It’s like saying McDonalds burger with fries and coke is better than prime ribeye steak from a top steakhouse. You can say that because you like sugar and caffeine, and salty fries and the taste of the burger. But you’d be miserably mistaken. Just because YOU can’t appreciate the difference doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

Your ear is simply not sophisticated enough. You are not a classical musician. You probably sing along with Coolio and jerk off to lady Gaga, you got no business talking about Beethoven.

The theme from black hawk down... And Days of thunder. I'm not even into nascar but Hans Zimmer can put a sound track to someone chitting and will make it compelling and inspirational.

You can take literally hundreds of examples from classical music, you don’t even need to go to great composers, and overlay it over the Interstellar and get the same results as Zimmer did or better. Watch:

Am I saying Zimmer is bad? No! He is amazing! But what you’re doing is like saying Jet Li or Bruce Lee beats Jon Jones in an actual full contact fight, not in a movie… It’s a very ignorant thing to say. It simply means you never fought or trained with any degree of seriousness.

He's good but not that good.

It's terrific, right? So you know, I am in heaven."
