Less than 2% of u.s adults are underweight. Almost 0 Americans die from being underweight a year. American women are easily among the fattest group of people on planet earth.

A young American is at least 1000x more likely to die of obesity related causes than being anorexic

Why do we have to go from one extreme to the other? Yes there are more morbidly obese women but 90 percent of anorexics are also women. That will just make the normal weight girls miserable. Encouraging anorexia will not solve obesity. That will just encourage more extremes on both ends.

You can actually die faster from being underweight than from being overweight. You can gain your own body weight. Although you would be in a VERY bad condition, it's still possible for you to be alive. However if you were to lose your own body weight, you would definitely die.

Just because way more people are obese and die from obesity, doesn't mean we need to get more people to suffer (and possibly die from) anorexia because that won't actually reduce the number of deaths. The goal should be to reduce the number of deaths from bad eating habits overall.

The solution to obesity shouldn't be to encourage anorexia because that will just cause yo yo dieting and unsteady weight fluctuations among women and girls, which is worse than if their weight stayed steady. We just need to teach everyone to eat healthy and that being underweight and being overweight are both bad.
