LOL at the state of your brain. I hope this pig ropes and is haunted by his farm animal actions until that point.
the end result is more relevant than the circumstances especially when she can out of nowhere lunge at him and potentially kill him. but i will give you credit that a taser could have been in order first. but i don't know what their protocol is for that. maybe they're supposed to counter a lethal weapon with a lethal weapon? i could see it being more appropriate for a knife though.

LMAO! dude, she was 75 and like, 15' away from him. What did he think she would do? Some sort of Naruto flash-step and in the blink of an eye appear behind him to slit his throat?

absolutely ridiculous ESPECIALLY considering a taser was also an option.

Fuk the Police. The whole system is broken.

Instead of spending billions on tácticool militarized gear they could give the pigs at least the most basic training in how to deal with mentally ill people.

The most rookie social worker could have dealt with that in a much better way than that trigger happy sicko.

Have you ever met someone with dementia? If it was as simple as you tell them to do something and they just do it, there wouldn't be a need for a good portion of the care sector.

i don't know their protocol though. is taser an option when someone has a weapon or are they supposed to jump straight to gun? if taser is an option then yes i agree he should have tried that first.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

The bottom 2 are synonyms. Like immigration reform is to not enforce anything.

The only thing I can think of is require all citizens to have guns and get rid of crooked cops.

Lol you get so rustled, cops are low iq. Let me guess what you do for a living.
BRB shooting an old lady while screaming drop the fukin knife at the top of your lungs, instead of handling it like a rational human being with normal emotional response and critical thinking.

An inherent problem is they aren't trained to deal with situations in this way. One of my closest friends is a detective and the stories I hear. I've also been on a number of ride-alongs and got to see firsthand what the extent of their training looks like and how it's applied practically in the field. Having said that, I've met some incredibly decent police officers who will use adaptive communication to defuse tense situations. Above and beyond the training, there are massive individual differences at play. Unfortunately, lots of people who gravitate towards law enforcement are personally rigid, control-oriented, and power-trip hungry. Further, I'd love to tell myself that I wouldn't act in this 'rash' way but if I were in a super tense situation, who knows what I'd do. Stress brings out the primal in all of us.

21' is the rule-of-thumb police use. The thinking is an attacker could cover the distance of 21' in 1.5 seconds, before the police officer has time to unholster their gun particularly if there is a safety engaged on the holster at the time

the problem here is: if this was your job, and you were a cop who had a life with kids and a wife, would you risk the possibility of being stabbed? how many cops have been killed because they didnt shoot and gave the assailant the opportunity to close the distance with a knife?

hoenstly, i think you guys in the states give cops too much shiet... maybe you fail to realize that a lot of americans are batshiet insane, and these cops have to deal with them everyday.

why do you almost never hear of these sorts of things happening in canada? our cops arent any better trained. could it be because canadians dont go around threatening cops with knives?

The family member that did that either had to of recently been exposed to what life is like being around someone with dementia or secretly was hoping the police would free her from the burden or wanted a police lottery pay day

Ever wanted to experience what exorcist possessed by a demon movie is like then be around people with dementia and you will see

Can confirm. Dementia is brutal and can make peaceful people disturbingly violent, enough to be strapped down to a gurney and sedated. It's one of the most upsetting things you can witness, especially if you love that person dearly.
