I got some bad news bro, literally every professional athlete is an elite athlete. Yeah one pro might be elite relative to others, but they're elite across the population when you really think about it.

In fact, look up the definition of an elite athlete and most of them say it's someone who has competed at the national, international, or professional levels. That means the benchwarmer in the pros would wreck 99.999% of us and is elite.

I don't have the numbers on how many people run 100 mile races because honestly I don't really give a sh*t if Goggins is technically elite or not. Is he elite across the narrow population of those who do run 100 mile races? Maybe not. But if I had to take an uninformed guess toward the population overall, I'd probably say he is elite.

You can minimize the parameters all day long and make an argument that someone is or is not elite out of a select group if you want... but what's really the point of that?
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

That’s not how it works. I’m not an elite lifter cause my deadlift mogs 99% of the general population

Tell me how it works then.... because the actual dictionary definition says you're the one who doesn't know how it works.

If you want to have your own definition that's fine but to pretend it's the accepted definition it's called denial.

Like I said, I can claim Kobe and LeBron aren't elite. Can you honestly call either of them elite compared to Jordan? See how it works yet? How I can trim the pool to compare to so low that I can actually make a case that Kobe and LeBron aren't elite compared to Jordan? That's all you're doing by telling me that's "not how it works"

But hell I'll give you chance... please explain how it works in detail so I can understand better. I would love to be on the same page as someone who knows how it works as well as you do.

He's an interesting guy, no doubt about it lol.

I've never read his books though. Are they basically just "your mind can do anything, just don't give up" type stuff?

eh one of those books where people read them, get motivated for 2 days, then go back to their normal life.

WAnt motivation? Wnat to stop being lonely? Go get faith. Accept god into your life.

If not, go live the life all the other faithless people are living. How's that working out for them? The point of god is giving you DAILY motivation and faith. Unless you want to worship David every morning. Up 2 u.

By the way maybe you are elite deadlifting but you just have a totally warped sense of what elite actually means

Ah... quite the definition. Yeah you're just confirmed to be dumb as f*ck. Wasn't gonna neg and I actually did want to give you a chance but you've earned these red squares dumbass

Edit:

Thanks for clearing up how stupid you really are though. Now I don't have to waste any more time having a conversation where I might think I'd actually get an intellectual, well-thought response on the topic.

Enjoy your low IQ!

Lol @ saying Goggins isn't an elite level runner.

If 99.999% of the population is incapable of doing what you do, that makes you elite.

He continuously states he hates to run.....but he does it to strengthen his mind. In what part of my post did I mention anything elite? You are arguing about something that I am not stating.....im talking about discipline you are on some other hater chit

Yeah and if you follow his path, he didnt train 6 to 12 months. He walked onto his first one with a lawn chair and a bag of chips while everyone else had to train, bring support tents, masseuses etc and he still completed it. that is what is impressive.

On the benching front, he probably could bench 400 back in his day. He was 260lbs. Im pretty sure he would be able to do it. Much more impressive to be 260lbs and run an ultra completely untrained.

See this is I disagree with. To me he’s mentally fragile. He’s tied his self identity and worth to his masochistic running endeavors. For fear of returning to his fatass state.

It’s more admirable to be a kobe Bryant or Dorian yates. Ultra obsessed but able to pivot and find other endeavors that bring joy.

And I thought you were talking about his discipline as a runner.

I am impressed with Kobe as well. You dont have to choose one. Kobe had the cards stacked in his favor..... but his mental fortitude is still impressive.
You can call it mentally fragile or whatever but most people are more like Goggins. Make excuses for themselves. So props to him for showing his vulnerability and conquering them.

He trained for years in the military. A lot of guys will run a 20k ruck in combat gear. As a seal I'd imagine there was a lot of running and swimming.

6 months is from couch to marathons. Not navy seal to marathons.
