I cannot emphasize how much I don’t give a **** about these distinctions but Lithuanians are mostly Slavs i.e., historically considered an (lower) ethnic White group (like Irish) relative to Anglos / Nordics / Germanic / etc due to mixing with Mongolians

they are viewed lower but they are the purest. Romanians are "purer" than Portuguese, but Portugal had a great empire, which puts them ahead. Genes and cultural success.

I am an American in Europe that never integrated.

As mentioned, expect fewer modern day luxuries (AC, big wash machine, garage, etc). Even well off people have poverty versions of what is common in the U.S..

It also feels like going back in time regarding services and availability of doing things online. Most things feel more difficult. Even US banking is easier for me from here than the local banks.

Stores and offices are closed a lot. It can be a shock if you are use to going to Walmart at 2am or shopping on Sunday. I just got back from the Dolomites and some stores have hours like 10-1300, 1500-1800. Some stores were just closed with no hours and almost everything there shuts down for November.

Small Italian towns are worse and just filled with old people. I live in a major German city and still struggle with store hours.

Customer service sucks. You can imagine what it would be like if everyone was a member of a union called "the state" and knew they could survive no matter what. Add in how difficult it is to climb here or succeed in any meaningful way and you could understand why most people do not associate with their jobs.

Hygiene is not the same level.

In Germany they have a caste system that gets pounded into everyone after grundschule.

You can still make good money (by euro standards) and live a good lifestyle. In Germany I want to say making over 90k pre tax puts you in the top ten percent. This equates to very nice hotels being the price of an average room on Boston. The same argument could be made about traveling anywhere else but maybe Switzerland, Japan, or Norway

I have a harder time relating to people here than someone that emigrated to the US as a kid. I sometimes meet people from Korea or the middle east that went to somewhere like Harvard and feel like something clicks more than with a European.

Portuguese and Spanish also seem easier to make friends (in a non weird way) with.

The statement about it being great for mediocre people is dead on. The real achievers either stay for family, sense of duty, or lack of options. I know of so many that go somewhere like Dallas to make four times as much money.

The best lifestyle here is to own some apartments and enjoy the rent.

Also, I do not know where this whole thing about Italian women being hot comes from. This is not commonly thought here. My wife and I can barely tell them apart.

Lots of bleach blonds that look like Soprano's wife and they all age horribly. They are also very short.

Not known to be the most mentally stable either. I do not hear many mention Slovenia here, but it is like a more conservative Czech.
