I'm about to pull the trigger on a model 3 performance after new years. How's the battery degradation on the 2020? I have a friend who's battery degraded over 20% in a few years but that doesn't seem to be the norm...

Also is it better to buy or lease these things? I figure for the price of two lease terms (6 years) might as well just buy it at the start as it'll amount to the same.

Battery degradation isn't too bad from my research, as long as you treat it well. Everyday charging is only to 80-90% and 100% for trips. If I charge mine to 100% I think I'm at 285 miles range, which is only about 10 miles down from what they claim new. But, you can also drive 20-30 miles past 0% I've seen on this year model, but not the newer ones. Something about the battery technology is different.

My favorite thing about tesla cars is not having to use the fuking brake. The regen braking is phenomal.

My least favorite thing about the tesla is the seats and interior. The dash is so plain and ugly. Its almost as if the car was designed and built by someone who had never built a car before.

I'll agree with you there 100%. It's hard to find good replacement seats. You can find covers, but not decent seats that aren't ricer racing seats. The new Kia ev has awesome seats. I've thought about talking to a local interior company about refoaming and covering the seats with stiffer foam, better shape, alcantara and red stitching.

And, yes, one pedal driving is underrated. People always mention it and say, "It's cool", but it's way better than that lol.

Not at all. Many 100k mile Teslas out there on og battery. Even if you cut this quote from Elon in HALF it's still more than I'll put on it. I've had 21 cars in the last 25 years lol. I've had 7 since 2016. I don't keep cars long. I'll upgrade or do something different eventually.

"According to Elon Musk on Twitter, Tesla car batteries are supposed to technically last for 300,000 to 500,000 miles, which is 1,500 battery cycles. That's between 22 and 37 years for the average car driver,"

There's precedent for battery replacements now, although the batteries have changed since the early 2010s, and the warranty provided tells you something about how the company views the risks with current models

Tire wear is another thing particularly with the performance models, combination of huge weight + instant torque can chew up tires like crazy. But that's the price you pay for fun

Do you lose money when you switch cars so much? I mean just in depreciation alone, you've got to, no?

I usually get very good deals, so not too much. Obviously been at this a while, so I search and search for the right deal and usually have to travel to get it. I've bought cars in Little Rock, Nashville, Raleigh, Chicago, Iowa, Birmingham, and locally (Memphis).

When I traded my SRT Charger for my Hellcat I came out completely even. When the Hellcat was totaled I made out $20k to the good. I didn't do great on the truck as far as the amount, but I owed quite a bit less b/c of the Hellcat money. Still, it's something I don't mind b/c I love driving nice cars and appreciate them a lot. It's one of my joys in life, so I understand I'll have to pay for that.

Also, I get low interests rates b/c I have great credit and I don't buy new anymore so I don't take that hit.

The more people that make this mistake the faster electricity will start rising in cost; it's already going up in a lot of states

You would've saved money spending the $400/month on gas vs getting a Tesla in the long run

There is no argument for EV's unless they come out with a $10,000 vehicle that can go 350 miles in real world conditions

Welcome to the M3P master race brah! I have a 2021 that looks just like yours but with the Überturbine wheels. Mine isn't loud because I believe they added the dual pane windows for the 2021+ model years. Drives like a ****in beauty. Nothing feels better than smashing the accelerator to pass whatever you want.

thats the reason why i probably wouldnt go with a tesla. my next daily driver will 100% be EV but likely a german car.

the interior is just god awful. looks like an elevator interior. the performance of the teslas is spectacular though.

Nah, the only Audi I really liked was an RS5 coupe. The Tesla is a little more practical and was easier to find for me. When my Hellcat got stolen I was heading toward a C7 Z06, then an RS5, then settled on this. I'm happy with my decision, but I still love ICE cars and have absolutely no hate for them.

I also have a 1930 Ford truck that I have did a little work on and I hope to finish someday.

Nah brah, I've got the best, most thoughtful kids ever who love me to death. They're 20 year old twins and they're the best kids you could ask for. Not typical zoomers, good head on their shoulder, incredibly respectful, giving, thoughtful. My dad left it to me and I didn't sell it. He bought it in '62.
