The Code of Jewish Law clearly states that a child of a Jewish mother is Jewish, regardless of the father’s lineage (or whatever else may show up in a DNA test), while the child of a non-Jewish mother is not Jewish.1 Matrilineal descent has been a fundamental principle of Torah since the Jewish people came into existence.
Rabbinic Judaism is racial laws set into a religion. You cannot be Jewish without a racial/ethnic component.

This was a time when identity was primarily determined by your religion. Often the only minority in an area in a time when religiosity was at an extreme.
They were seen as the 'outsiders' and the target of accusations of causing plague, drought, eating babies etc.
Funnily enough in the Arab/ Turk world they were treated better because of the relative levels of acceptance compared to Europe (Islamic law recognizes and tolerates explicit Christianity and Judaism, but no other religions), and the Middle East ended up as a sanctuary for many Jews.

Given the historical agenda against them and their minority status, citing their persecutions as proof they are bad people is laughably retarded and could not be believed by a thinking person.

Wrong, one of the reasons Jews were segregated in the middle ages was to prevent people converting to Judaism. It was also the reason Jews were prevented from having Christian or Muslim slaves.

They're a clearly distinguishable group of ethnicities (Ashkenazi being the most common) based off of a bloodline, nobody without the bloodline is considered a true jew either scripturally or irreligiously, and they require converts to marry jewish women to be considered actual jews as well as test for the bloodline to determine citizenship in Israel.

The mother thing holds for very "orthodox" jews.

It has to do with raping infidels as sex slaves, etc.

The male jew can impregnate an infidel he used sexually but he has not responsibility for the kid at all since it didn't come from a jewish woman.
