Love when everyone copes by perpetuating the myth that bmi is irrelevant. As someone already pointed out, bmi is directly correlated with health outcomes, even when factoring for muscle mass. Muscle mass is still extra weight on the heart. The longest lived people will generally be people within a normal bmi. In the US barely anyone is in that range, but it’s pretty common overseas. Try telling the skinny 6’0, 160 guy in Norway with minimal muscle that the juiced up 6’0, 230 guy is actually healthier than him. They’ll laugh.

Obviously if you’re going to be above the normal bmi, it’s best for it to be muscle over fat. Either way though, for optimal long term health, it’s best to be within a normal bmi range.

I had a doctor tell me I was obese once. Was like 235-240 with fairly defined abs at the time. I showed the doctor my abs and asked wtf he was talking about. Even if I quit lifting I don't think I could get below 200 at this point

This will never happen to a natural. Muscle has a protective effect when it comes to health, only when you start putting on super physiological amounts does it start to become a danger to your heart.

"Juiced-up." We're talking natural muscle mass here. There's also something called normal weight but "metabolically obese." If you're in the normal weight range with excess visceral fat (skinny fat basically) you have a higher mortality risk than someone who's slightly overweight according to the BMI but metabolically healthy, especially if the excess weight is muscle. Studies have even shown this.

The point is, it’s pretty damn rare to be natural at a low body fat % if you’re above the normal bmi. If someone is 6’0, 220+ and natty, they’re likely carrying around a lot of extra weight. If you’re way outside the normal bmi range, which is skinnier than people think, you would likely be juiced to still be mostly muscle mass.

BMI is only relevant to the average person that doesn't carry much muscle, so the extra weight is harmful fat!
It's hardly worth taking it seriously if you do weights know you're not fat.

Itt fatties cope
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

We need to come up with a word that describes fat+muscular beyond fatceps. There are guys at my gym that are "big", but they don't look athletic at all. The only way they can do "pull ups" is with sht form and ROM, very little control of moving themselves. Standing up from sitting on the ground is a three step+ process. They went off on a tangent of being healthy and athletic and went for a look that Hollyweird promoted with Arnold on roids.
