My grandpappy needed water for his hand-built house back in the day(1940's I think) so he got some sort of filter & irrigated a nearby body of water on the land

There is no way of knowing. The future is unpredictable. Science or someone can have a major breakthrough. I heard once that beyond 10 years is out of range for predictions.

I do know that innovation is decreasing. That’s a people issue though.

In Melbourne it's all tradies wood frames bricks etc. The biggest 'innovation' is hebel panels which don't really change much just replace the brick.
