fuk you OP
Yes. Calibrating with the difficulty of these exams means you guess what you think the complexity they'd ask is.

So, you'd get scored 'right' by answering what the testmakers said, anyway, because it's on their key.

If the faces were different sized it would add faces where the margins stuck out, but thats impossible because all sides are the same length.

If adjoining faces become a single plane you would lose faces, but it could only happen on one side because of the different base geometry. I think its 5

You know damn fukking well like 90% of the stuff you learn in school you never use or see again in life. Unless you happen to be someone who works in a field that does use advanced math or geometry. Which is a very small % of people.

Normies didn't get it wrong, they just accepted an alternate solution. The angle of the faces are different so it should be 7

Are we sure about that though? How does that work when one of the planes is a square? Don't they have to be attached as two triangles?

correct

the answer is 5 because it lsoes 2 extra sides, because they become coplanar

No you dont need to add up anything

you just need to understand that the square pyramid has 5 faces.... and that doesnt change when you add the smaller shape. it increases the area of some faces..... but no new ones are created. the faces of all from the 2nd one are redundant

I got an 800 in math on the PSAT and SAT so I am not answering another math question for the rest of my life.

This doesn't seem like a PSAT question though.
