Quit for almost 2 weeks and I feel amazing.
Sleep, mood, anxiety are all better.
The hardest part is doing things you used to do without the alcohol like watching football or camping.

A wakeup call to anybody here drinking heavily daily. I had a friend that was drinking every night when I first met him 6 years ago. That started about a year earlier. Prior to that his parents pulled him out of college for a DUI so he was all alone while all his friends were at school. He started drinking every night out of loneiness and boredom. He took a few years off and only drank on the weekends. When I met him was when he had been back at every night rate for the past year.
His addiction slowly got worse to where he started drinking about 10 white claws a day at work and drinking at lunch. Would go home and continue. He did that for the last 3.5 years. I have only seen him 2x this past year and he looked terrible. He started smoking out of nowhere about a year ago only damaging his liver even worse. Last time I saw him was in late October and his lips were all crusted, hair long as hell like he hadn't washed it in weeks, and he was doing his usual of just pounding sake at the bar. I finally told him it was time to go to rehab. He cut off communication for over a month.
As of a week ago old coworkers told me I needed to reach out to him as he had turned completely yellow at work from jaundice, and ascites (looking like your carrying a baby due to fluid retention), went to the ER was there for 3 days and wouldn't tell anybody what they said. I finally called his sister and he had cut his family off for the same time frame. I went to see him and his feet and hands were completely swollen. Skin as yellow as could be, sounded like he had the flu, and looked like somebody at end stage liver failure. They told him that he didn't have cirrhosis or hepatatis liver but extremely bad scarring and his days of drinking were done forever or he would die. He's only 34 years old.

I'm trying to take a break for a while. Miscing just isn't the same without alcohol though.

I drink twice a month only, 4 (500ml.) cans of beer in each session.
I don't see a reason to quit because I am not drinking too much at the moment.
Even if I quit, it won't change my mood a bit.
Even if I quit for a few months, I would be doing it again at some point.
So I don't think about it too much, but I have to make sure I drink as less as possible.

Truth.
Gone through periods where I drank too often and always felt off the next day. It gets worse as you get older too. Like everything, moderation is key. It’s fine if I only drink once a week and as long as I drink a large glass of water before bed I don’t feel nearly as bad the next day. Drinking a big glass of water when you’re done drinking is like a hangover cheat code.

This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

It starts to interfere with other things we do in life or our environment, so control is necessary.
Drinking too much in my 20's is just a memory now, remember too much is boring and tiring. At some stage our bodies will tell us to reduce or stop.

I've known countless alcoholics in my life, and they all have phases where they just prattle on and on about how life is SOOO MUCH BETTER sober before going on another bender. If you drank with even some moderation, life wouldn't be all that different other than being mildly hungover a day or two on the weekend.
This is no different than Karens who say LIFE IS SO MUCH BETTER EATING CLEAN & go on about how much better they feel on their diets all week, only to cave & stuff their cawksuckers full of candy and ice cream on Saturday night.
Being sober and eating nothing but "clean food" isn't sexy or fun, and if you actually do it right, you don't fuking talk about it all day. You just fuking do it. You also most likely still drink & eat less healthy chit, you just do it in moderation like a healthy person instead of a desperate sad fuk.
