Agree about the cramped shoes and to much support. Just causes lots of problems. I walk barefoot or slippers most of the the time at home.

What you should also not wear are flip flops. They cause all kinds of problems because of the strap between your toes and you have to clench your toes to keep them on.

There's no other way to say this without coming off like a dirty hippie, but there issomethingvery liberating and freeing about running barefoot. I mean think about it, how often do you run barefoot? not very often for most people.

oh, and one thing often not talked about when it comes to running in minimalist shoes/barefoot. It will DESTROY our calves (in a good way). You'll be sore in places you didn't even know existed when you go for that first run.

I"m just surprised that out of everything the misc claims to support:

-no fap
-cold showers
-homesteading
-no pillow

they, for some reason draw the line at wearing a minimalist shoe.

Was looking for some trainers today, everything seemed to have at least 1 inch plus at the heel / support / whatever you call it. Not a fan.

If I didn't find the Xero shoes I'd probably go with those old school Adidas Samba or whatever. Had the Nike version but they were too narrow.

Yeah, the more I look at our biomechanics, the more I realize we aren't even supposed to be walking on our heels, makes no sense.

Don't buy anything like that!

Order a few pairs of XERO shoes in a range of sizes that seems right for you, and return the pairs that don't fit right.

Once you get the size figured out, you can keep ordering them online forever.

I went to REI to figure out my sizing because REI actually carries XERO brand.

I've had mine since mid-oct. I wear them nearly daily. They still look pretty close to 'new' but the lightweight material does wear down a little faster than say a pair of Nikes.... But Nikes are horrendous LMAO.

Before these I used to buy the INOV8 f-lite series shoes. Those were 'minimal' shoes, but the toe box was too narrow.

As a kid, my feet grew so quickly that my shoes became too tight within a year. I still have a bit of a hammer toe on both feet because of this. These days, I’m mostly barefoot except for boots when I’m going out or CrossFit shoes/trainers for the gym

If you want to try this, you can buy a pair of Saguaro or Whitin's on Amazon for like $35. That's what I'm gonna do. I have flat feet, so I'm hoping this helps.

I've been using minimalist shoes for about 11 years now. They are the way to go unless you're running on asphalt or concrete.

I highly recommend the Vibram Furoshikis.

I've tried them, the build quality is ass-tier, but the idea of minimal shoes is definitely available for $35.... You'll probably upgrade to xeros right away.
