We have birth control, and every STD is curable except for herpes and HIV. 90 percent of people who have genital herpes never have an outbreak, and the health community has basically abandoned routine testing because it’s all stigma and no real consequence if you have it. It’s a harmless skin condition. As far as HIV, well let’s just say heterosexual people doing heterosexual stuff aren’t likely to get it at all. It doesn’t transmit that way except for one in a million outliers. There’s a good chance you have never even met someone with HIV.

So that’s why. If unprotected sex was as dangerous as high school health ed told you it was, all of our dicks would have fallen off and we’d all be dead now. I’ve never had an STD either. If it was as prevalent as they say it is, I would have had things multiple times over.

Edit to add, this applies to first world countries with good healthcare systems and hygiene/sanitation.
