There was an emphasis on protecting children in the speech delivered with this legislation.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

My biggest complaint is it simply doesn't work.

They've been hanging and throwing gays off of roof tops for decades in Iran and there are still gays in the country. In Pakistan they cut off your hand if you're caught stealing, but people still steal, and the selling and use of drugs is still sky high in the Philippines even after Duterte decriminalized murdering drug dealers/users.

Its not going to curtail anything. These radical laws do nothing but slowly revert humanity back to barbarism.
