I wouldn't say it's a greater injury risk, what makes you say that? The WR total is 3103 by Dave Hoff.

We don't ever train a straight bar raw squat but based on his training lifts I would say if he wanted to he would squat 800+ in just belt/wraps.

I've noticed that neither the 17 or 18 year old hit 1048x3 without breaking a sweat. Kids these days are just lazy.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Super impressive of course, but much harder for me to understand vs raw lifts because quite frankly, i have no idea what lifts are impressive equipped, but based on the fact they're some of the first teenagers to ever do this it's obviously a massive achievement. The only equipment i've ever tried (once) is a bench shirt and it was just a different world compared to raw benching.

What does ones raw gym lifts need to be like, to achieve these kinds of equipped numbers? What kind of raw total would these kids put up do you think?

It's nothing that can really be correlated since the training is pretty different for raw vs. equipped. Like, JT benched 550 equipped and probably benches 400 raw where I benched 705 equipped at the same meet and I have never benched 400 raw. Deadlift has the least change. I think he pulled 700 and he would probably be good for at least 650 raw.

2nd youngest to squat 1000, and heaviest sub-20 squat in history at 1005 (Dave Hoff did 1005 at 19 years old). At 18, he totaled 2180 in his first meet.

These guys are both graduating and then off to play college football. Powerlifting now has 3 teens in history to squat a G.

As someone who debated the football team day in and day out on proper squat form this would make me put a gun in my mouth lmao. You seem to have forgot to include "equipped" in the title, probably SPF too. If they removed the biomechanical cyborg suit and lifted within an organization with standards they'd probably hit a 1500lb total. Impressive for 18 year olds at that weight, but the lines between sports are getting blurred here and thats dishonest.

Yeah I wasn’t sure if the squat was raw or not till looking into it either. There was actually a 18 year old that had a legit deep 900lb raw squat with sleeves and a walkout (search Jackson Powell powerlifting on YouTube). He’s a major bloatlord and has proportions that make him ideal for squatting and mediocre on other lifts, but still a legit 900 squat at that age. I thought someone topped him by 100lbs
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

Repping everyone ITT that's made a Fraudlerian reference. Some people seem to forget how much of a fraud he is

As far as equipped vs raw, why does it matter. That is what they choose to do, and it doesn't seem to be any form of comparison by Drew. I would argue for them, it is safer to do heavier equipped lifting than heavy raw numbers. There is a reason athletes are usually capped on their numbers. This would allow them to hit heavier weight that could otherwise affect their athletic careers. Also, wearing a squat suit does not raise your numbers. You have to train with the equipment to become proficient with it

I lift raw btw

I mean, I don’t have anything against equipped lifting either but this is just factually incorrect. On the descent the squat suit stores potential energy and then uses that potential energy to apply a mechanical force on the way up. It quite literally is helping you lift the weight

It actually is true.... Have you ever worn one? It stretches as your hips push back into the "seat" then helps lift you out of the hole. It does not just make your numbers go up when you put it on. You have to train with it

Analogy

You have to learn how to use a forklift in order to use one. And you can move a lot more weight with a forklift than only your own body. If you pick up a 2000lb barbell by driving a forklift that doesn’t mean the forklift didnt help because you had to learn how to use the forklift

Yes, hide the blatant retardation that is equipped lifting, behind the "you lift it then" argument. Very smart, leaves the other party speechless. Id love to lift it all I'd have to do is gain 100lbs, wrap my body in materials that add 400lbs to my squat and waddle onto a platform while a bunch of over the hill bloated men yell while thrasher metal plays in the background and we fetishize nose bleeds. Oh and the last part, decrease the range of motion of the lift by 50% that way its less of a muscular strength display and more of a what can by body(materials wrapped around my body) withstand stabalizing as I move 7 inches.

You have middle of the pack lifts at 220 raw, except that bench, mirin. You have a higher squat than deadlift...I smell a high squat. People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones. I squat and deadlift more than you raw at 40 pounds lighter, now what? Is my opinion suddenly justified?

And thats the reason Im commenting. Because the numbers are being presented as apples to apples, but its apples to oranges. See thread title if you dont believe me. OP has diminished his friends accomplishments by not including the equipped part. Now the viewer feels decieved instead of impressed.

They can lift heavier weight, which also has heavier consequences when injury occurs, so not sure where you are going with that. Also no one squats 600lbs raw, then put on a suit to squat 700lbs for atheletic performence. They would just squat 500lbs for more reps if they wanted a higher load.

The thread title says it all. Its not a 1000lbs squat. It is a 1000lb equipped high squat. Still crazy a 18 year old can stand with that on his shoulders. Im not saying its unimpressive, Im saying its false advertisment that dimisnishes the achievement.

Anyone not indoctrinated in this niche sub set of a sub set of lifting looks at this and cringes, for good reason. No hate on the kid, no hate on OP, extreme hate for changing the standards of established lifting techniques to add more weight on the bar. They will literally hold meets in gravity chambers to get another 100lbs. Its an ego thing that undercuts the bank that raw lifting has created.

Ah... Now you are changing what you're saying. You could not put on a squat suit and lift more weight today. That is a factual statement. Also, that analogy does not work as they are incomparable situations. The forklift does not rely on the strength of the driver, but wearing any squat suit does rely on the strength of the wearer. Again, putting on a squat suit does not AUTOMATICALLY raise your numbers

You literally said that a squat suit does not raise your numbers. Logically equivalent to saying that a squat suit doesn’t help. Or that someone that squats X equipped can also squat X raw

The forklift is still a valid analogy. Both the forklift and suit are applying external mechanical force to the load

Not what I said at all...... Obviously, it's not the same as raw lifting, but you are conflating the egos of some people with a objective statement that wearing a suit does not just magically make your numbers go up. I'm not an equipped lifter, nor do I support it, but your feelings about it does not make that statement incorrect

The forklift is still a valid analogy. Both the forklift and suit are applying external mechanical force to the load
Key word there being automatically. If that word was not in the original post then sorry. It still does not just raise ones numbers. It is still true you could not put one on today and raise your max. Also, the analogy does not work even though they are both external sources. Again, the suit still relies on the users strength. If one had to use their strength to maneuver the levers to raise and lower the forks, sure it could work then

They are mostly raw. Its more to do with them being retards. If any athlete trained like that they would shorten their careers for sure

You didn’t say automatically in your first post. If that’s what you mean then we’re in agreement

The forklift analogy still stands, because it’s about external forces being applied to the weight that aren’t coming from your own body. It’s an analogy, it’s not going to be 100% identical
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

With the forklift analogy, it doesn’t automatically make you capable of moving more weight either, because you need forklift training too

The force that the squat suit applies, is independent of the users strength. It’s a variant of a mechanical spring my brother
That's my mistake then and we can keep going back and forth on the other but to be honest I really don't want to defend equipped lifting lol

Yeah on the opposite side I hate to feel like I’m critiquing it cause I really don’t have anything against it, IMO it’s just another variant of lifting with more variables. And having that much weight on your back or in your hands is surely painful as fuk

But that other poster has a point that the thread didn’t make a distinction about it being equipped and lumped it in with raw lifts and that’s just going to put people on the defensive
