Sorry to hear that, bro. Breakups always suck assss, and I've done my share of bitching about it myself, so I won't judge you for that. Best of luck to you moving forward from it.

I'm sorry to hear brother.

Give my past experience, I would not cohabitate with a woman prior to marriage, nor would I do it to 'test' the relationship. Just my $.02

Chin up though. You're an attractive successful guy and you now have the freedom to find someone that more closely aligns with you and to build your life with. Godspeed.

Feel for you brah. But you know how this game works, you’ve been here before. It will suck like no other but you will push through & eventually feel normal again only this time you’re better / more resilient / leveled up from your previous self.

Thanks man. This is day 1, let’s see how it goes from here. Weekend May be rough

Thanks man, really appreciate you posting here brah. I take it you went trough the same recently?

I used to be a big believer of “live together before marriage” but nowadays I’m not so sure. When you live alone and start getting to know a girl and things go fine, it’s real easy to just say “hey why don’t you just stay”.

I guess we get wiser with age lol.

Also I dont believe in marriage either so it’s tricky

Thanks my man. Likewise.

Hopefully I grew a thicker skin since last time. We’ll see

Haven't you said before humans aren't made for monogamy and monogamy isn't natural? iirc you sounded before like you didn't have it in you to be faithful to a single woman for long. You sure you never gave her reason to suspect?

Living with someone before marriage is a good idea. Better to find out that you're not compatible before rather than after marriage. Marriage is just a piece of paper, so there shouldn't be any difference being married and not, as long as both people are communicating and have the same goal.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Ex wanted to buy a home and I had reservations about the relationship prior to that. She was eager to get a place together after a year of us dating. That happened during COVID and at that point I wasn't ready, but it was really because I wasn't sure how things would be during economic uncertainty.

I call moving in with a girl or vice versa relationship creep. Many people, like myself do it because you "might as well" since you've been together x number of years. It escalates the relationship in a false manner. There's minimum commitment. I just think many people do it to test their partner and relationship when there are other ways to do it and to determine if your values are aligned.

I'd maybe do it if I was going to propose to the woman within 2 - 3 months or something but anything else than that it's just a form of purgatory in the relationship IMO.

In the end my ex harbored HUGE resentment towards me because she waited for me to propose and I didn't. It legit blew over into two fights where she threw stuff and the night before I left and we decided to end things she attacked me srs. It ****ed with me for a few months but it's here nor there and I forgive her and learned from my mistakes.

This is great advice tbh. Best response after every breakup, regardless of who initiated the breakup, is to look at the mirror, self reflect, and start self improvement maxxing.

You have about the same join date as I do so we've probably experienced a lot of similarities. I was living with the GF for about a year. We had a big fight and she left. After she left things got more complicated and I had to end up leaving the country. We still talk and I guess we are still together but things are still in limbo. Even if I go back, hopefully soon, we talked the other night and she's in a different province now for work and pretty much stated she wasn't planning on coming back for the foreseeable future. The first few days or so after she was gone it was quite a surreal and lonely feeling. After that passed I started to enjoy again having a house and space to myself and not needing to work things around having someone living with me. There would be some days or night where I would get the blues because I missed having someone physically there with me (and no, finding new booty after being in a relationship with someone you cared about and loved doesn't fix that feeling) and someone I know would be with me every night. It sucks and it's apart of life and people, no matter how strong the relationship is, sometimes just drift or grow apart. One thing that keeps me thinking positive about my future is knowing that things could go either way. Either she comes back and we continue or she doesn't and I am a free bird and can flirt and have all the fun with that and maybe find someone even better and or more compatible (seems to be the trend for all my relationships). Keep your head up Ken.

Monogamy has nothing to do with love bro. It’s about sex and physical attraction, and no I never have her a reason to suspect. I’ve said it here in the misc, I’ve never cheated on any girl of mine despite my beliefs about sexual monogamy being a silly fairytale .

Man that sounds rough, IMO she going bat**** crazy at the end kind of helped your process right?

Mine took it very well, left me a letter and **** saying she loved me. That just makes it hard as fuk.

She had some dark moments, so I must be careful with that, can’t just forget it or decide to ignore it just because I’m right post breakup. That’s often a mistake people do, idealize the other one and pretend they were actually perfect.

Yeah man, you understand the feeling Perfectly. You see shadows of the relationship in every corner of the house, that just makes it harder.

I’d say you two are procrastinating tho, and just postponing the real definitive breakup.

yeah that doesn't sound suspect. not trying to salt the wounds here, but you may have given off something unbeknownst to you, and she picked up on it.

Honestly it feel like we are without actually saying it. That's what happens when two people become too comfortable with each other or as a potential backup. I imagine if I went back that things could easily just fade into nothing. It's easy to run back to a relationship when it provided or has provided a certain level of comfortability and predictability. Humans are scared of the unknown. Part of the unknown from walking away from a relationship or losing someone you cared about is whether or not you think you'll be able to find someone again or if that person will be able to 'fill the others' shoes and adopt the roles that you became so accustomed to. Tricky situation. Stick with what you know or brave the unknown and be the one to choose who and what you're next relationship will be. When you look at it that way, it starts to become a little fun, interesting, and a challenge. I think a lot of people define themselves or allow themselves to be defined by whether or not they're single or not. This is especially evident on the Misc. Nobody says you have to constantly be with someone or that you're any less of a person because you aren't, but yet it seems to be a strong consistent issue for men.

Nah man, im self aware about the relationship and my overall behavior, if I acted shady or wrong I would admit it. No point lying or being a hypocrite, wouldn’t help my mourning process if I wasn’t honest about everything.

She even had my password, gave her since the first month to prove to her that I wasn’t going to hurt her that way. Never checked my phone to my knowledge but also never once got a weird text or anything that could make her doubt. The one time I got a text was from an ex gf and I let her know immediately, left the other ex on read and she still got mad lol.

Then I realized what I state on the paragraph above isn’t healthy and we both were just wasting out time. Plenty of other examples like that, we’d have a conflict weekly about something completely made up in her mind by her insecurities and low self steem.

Just tread carefully. You may feel in control now, but your mindset could do a 180 the moment you find out she’s dating someone new and she doesn’t need you anymore. Your mind could betray you then and put you in an incredibly tough spot.

Id say don’t give up control, take action as difficult as it may be. The other potential path can be 10x as painful, and let’s face it, you two actually staying together isn’t on the cards at all, that’s not even a possibility from what I gather from your posts

Why on earth would anybody take marriage advice from this character.

This is arguably the dumbest thing I've read on the misc today and that's saying something.

Id say don’t give up control, take action as difficult as it may be. The other potential path can be 10x as painful, and let’s face it, you two actually staying together isn’t on the cards at all, that’s not even a possibility from what I gather from your posts
It's a possibility. I was more her lifeline for stuff anyways. Kind of the man trading resources for companionship/love to a degree. Despite being a possibility, it's one that I am becoming for comfortable and confident with not wanting happen. Eventually whenever I go get back out abroad, I plan on settling down and starting a family if I can do and find that. The thrill of finding someone new and being on the hunt with flirting and being able to openly meet other women without being or feeling restricted or tied down is quite alluring. I'm seeing more positives than negatives. But you're right. The moment she pops back into the picture there's always the chance I'll revert back to what was comfortable and those old feelings and emotions that I thought you almost burnt out might spring to life again. Then if I decide I don't want to rekindle or pursue the relationship then there's the chance of the next level of crazy that might happen, because you know how some women can be.

She had some dark moments, so I must be careful with that, can’t just forget it or decide to ignore it just because I’m right post breakup. That’s often a mistake people do, idealize the other one and pretend they were actually perfect.
Oh yeah it confirmed some of my reservations. She was VERY conflict avoidant and rarely voiced her opinions. I like a woman with a growth mindset. I'll be honest though I thought I was settling in the relationship and don't want to feel like that again. Once I was out the door I knew it was over and I was okay with that. I was honestly delaying the break up.

I know she loved me though. She said that a few times to me after the first fight and when we were trying to reconcile.

Glad yours wasn't as intense. I also had friends on that side that didn't contact me after the break up which was funny b/c I introduced them to them lmao. Maybe she needed them more than I did who knows. Hope she's doing well. A friend of mine ran into her and she asked about me so we're all human.

At least we are men right? We barely entering our primes, no need to rush or force anything.

Let’s just hope things work out for our exes
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Takes one to know one, biatch. Seriously though, who cares? Misc is getting a little pathetic with begging for pics and cranking it to dream girls they'll never get with. Worry about yourself instead of other people.
